Hi, Yesterday 10 October 2005 I noticed a stock AETNA (AET) move almost 120pips upwards in the opening half hour of trading. What makes a stock move like that?

It's actually a CFD (Contract for Difference) with the price the same as the underlying stock. Moves in pips/points for want of a better word. On a mini account traded on lots you can get from $1.00 per pip/point on 1 lot and $10.00 per pip on 10 lots. Do the math

If you don't know what moves a stock then you shouldn't be trading stocks let alone leveraged instruments.
