Scataphagos, You know exactly what you are talking about on ET. I appreciate your post. Really enjoy the reading.
Is the first example below actually "Scalping"? https://www.elitetrader.com/et/thre...t-right-here-baby.335635/page-17#post-5179714 https://www.elitetrader.com/et/search/12755245/?q=scalping&t=post&o=date&c[user][0]=82119&c[thread]=335635 wild scalp trading - Search - https://duckduckgo.com/?q=wild+scalp+trading&t=h_&ia=web
Those who hope scalping might be the road to riches should give it a try. I read a story about some successful scalper who was averaging 400+ trades per day. That's more than 1 per minute in RTH... I'd probably burn out in the first HOUR if I tried that.
I have been experimenting scalping 30 shares of Apple in July. Made over 1,000 trades in 17 days. Results are in attached spreadsheet. A little over 53% of trades profitable with an Average Profit to Loss ratio of 1.03. Pretty thin margins but thanks to zero commissions and almost no fees it is profitable so far.
What about what this cat's doing in the link below? It's cued, takes a couple minutes to see what he's doing. Does this look like scalping to you? Not me. Just looks like he's following a straightforward method that could require HOURS to resolve into a win, loss, or draw. When I think scalping, I'm thinking caffiene, not merlot, lol.
I am a scalper, and a very very successful scalper, scalping is very profitable, you do need to have the right skills to be very successful at scalping though.
