To have that move, a few thousands contrats not enough. CL is the most liquid commodity market and it is global. You'll see the fat finger with NG, but not CL. Just IMO.
There have been fat-fingers in deeper markets than CL (i.e. Bund). But this was GR downgrade obviously.
I didnt see the move today, so I cannot comment on that move specifically. But there are times when CL liquidity dries up a bit and wacky stuff can happen. Nothing that makes my jaw drop to the floor, but wacky nonetheless. Thats just my observation. Now NG, well every time I think I have that contract figured out a massive wick comes out of nowhere and I give money to a stranger, its quite humbling lol.
actually it happens about the same time the s&p drop suddenly, as cl, so its something going on at that time, and both pick up immediately. its not normal.
it has nothing to do with CL , the dax and ftse dropped suddenly as well , anyway it is only 40 cents it is not a big deal ...
