  2. a spinal injury is my biggest fear too. everytime i see footage of Nick Buoniconti Jr., or Christopher Reeves, i just shake my head. i couldn't do it.

my mother was an emergency room nurse back in the 80's, and opted to put on the hazmat suit, and go into the sealed bubble to take care of those early AIDS patients rather than subject herself to the mangled bodies that were coming in nightly from the motorcycle accidents. she said the quadriplegics used to BEG her to kill them, and she just couldn't take it anymore.

my cousin's a mechanic, and he bought a motorcycle to teach himself how to fix them. supposedly motorcycle mechanics make a lot of money because there are so few good ones out there. then naturally he started riding it despite my warnings not too. 2 weeks later he hit a pothole at 30 MPH, was thrown from the bike, and shredded the skin off of his arm, elbows, and hands. as macabre as it may sound, i was happy he got thrown. he learned his lesson early.

    Hi!
    1) Not making it in trading
    2) Helps to handle risks
    3) More confidence is necessary
    4) More and more knowledge helps build confidence i believe

  5. Nobody has mentioned going blind........
Want some fear, try on a blindfold for a few hours. Damn.
Best i ever managed was around 10 minutes, i think.
Seriously, you should try it, no cheating-see how you feel after what you think is hours, but is seconds.

Sammy and traderich: Tisk.. It's sad to read your restrictive
mind set toward others. Some didn't like my becoming a "crop-duster" pilot either. Thank God I did NOT listen to them because that was the most personal rewarding thing I did in my life as I now look back from old age.. I am thankful there are risk takers to set the standards for others to reach out for in their own lives.

I hope you decide some day to come out of your shell of security.

  9. while i respect your opinion and aged wisdom, i hope the day doesn't come in which i decide to mount a donor machine, and expose myself to rocks, potholes, and oncoming traffic. there are plenty of pursuits in this world that i'd find equally, if not moreso, enjoyable, which won't take unnecessary risk to life and limb.

i'm sure these 20 people from Daytona Beach Bike Week would loved to have had this week over.. especially that 21 year old. i wonder how many bikers were left crippled and with brain injuries on top of these 20 who were killed? :(
