Aside from buying straight calls or puts? I'd say same-month verticals --- bull call/bull put/bear call/bull call spreads. Less to worry about when it's all in the same month, IMHO.....doing calendar spreads got a bit too much for me. Though I am starting to papertrade strangles going out 3 months, just to see how it works.
