In reference to your thread title, my experience is that extracting from the markets requires very little creativity. In regard to your post, I think self-discovery is worth spending time and effort on for its own sake. I don’t think it is a prerequisite to trade. I know it’s common for people to build up trading as if it’s a grand activity, spiritual even. SimpleMeLike has it about right. It’s just money at the end of the day. Or when you have enough to support your desired lifestyle, it’s just a choice of how to pass time and stay interested. Trading is a game in the truest sense. I think beginners can improve their ability to play it by dialing down its supposed importance. It’s a hard game to play when you’re greedy for money. That’s about all the self-discovery you need to extract. The rest is to learn to trade.
@Jadeyxx17, I am not kidding when I said most don't understand our own Turtle. Creative problem solving should be done when you are not trading, e.g. as Mr. Turtle said, pre & post market.... While trading, strictly follow your strategy/method is the rule rather than exception. Of course, I am just a retail, don't take me too seriously.
Good to know. My option trades are getting infrequent these days due to market conditions on my targets. I am trying to decide if I should add day trading or butterflies to my trading mix. I was consistently unprofitable day trading and gave it up back in 2010-11.
Hello ironchef, Yes, day trading is where all the money and you already know what to do each day to make the money.
