What Is TradeBolt

Discussion in 'Automated Trading' started by TradeBolt, Jun 5, 2006.

  1. The fact the SR execution is done on secure server located in the FCM's (broker) data center is just one advantage (and yes , ask any IT person he will tell you that server based execution is better as a fact

Also the FACT that SR is a software company that services large number of clients (which many of them are institutional) and its
a large company (SR as over 30 R&D professionals') that can give you both support and the stability to know that one day out of the blue they wont go "belly up" on you and stop servicing you

Hmm, a fact? I'm not arguing with you here, I'm really not.

But I'm not sure FCM secure server based execution is the be-all-and-end-all solution. It depends on your IT skills I guess. I have run trading systems from home before now (and still do) on dedicated machines with multiple physical hard disks and multiple DSL lines for redundancy. TBH, they perform just as well as my rack-based servers do for the same task.
I'm totally happy doing it this way, and I'm not looking for someone to run my strategies for me. All I want is the link.

All that being the case, why would I want to add another layer of permanent monthly cost to my operation, along with another layer of technology?

I don't doubt that SR is the perfect solution for some, but it probably isn't for me. Hopefully you can see my point of view on this.

Sure, I can see the advantage of a large company with good professionals. And in my contact so far with them, I have no complaints at all.

But that still doesn't guarantee they won't close down out of the blue. No-one can offer that.

Tradebolt's website is now back (The index page was carrying the ceased trading message yesterday) - hmm, what's that about?

  4. I know exactly what happened and why it happened, but I can't say (its confidential). Modulus was going to acquire TradeBolt but in the end we didn't. I think someone else did and that's OK.

    Something is definitely going on.

I just tried going to their website and it's completely offline now.

Even if they are merging with someone else, do they really have to just mysteriously disappear?

How much is tradebolt for sale for? Shouldn't a community like ET have a whipround buy it, then open source it?

Let's face it. You and the guy who started NinjaTrader (Ray) are programmers first and foremost who couldn't hack it yourselves trading for a living so you turned to the only thing you knew how to do to make it....program for a living.

Human emotions are not the primary reason why people fail at trading. If it were, then all you nerds out there with programming talents would be making millions off of the market and that doesn't happen either.

You're a vendor hawking a product. You know nothing about being a success in the markets so stop trying to goad newbies into thinking your product will make the difference of whether someone is successful or not as a trader. It won't.

A little late at coming into the TradeBolt discussion! But can anyone tell me if the TradeBolt software is still usable if the site is down? I managed to download the software from a site. I sent them an inquiry but another site responded with an out of business e-mail.

Any other trading interface out there that works with MetaStock and Jtrader? Thanks?JB

  10. They have a competitor called TradeBullet, that works about the same as TradeBolt (TradeBullet.com). They have been around a couple years, and seem to work pretty well at trying to make users happy...
