If you need more assistance with how to download MetaTrader4 or MetaTrader5, please start another thread or three, and ask for detailed instructions. We are here to please you!
All brokers offer this software for free but it is broker specific so it is downloaded from each broker's website. With most brokers you have to register to be able to download it from their website but it is a simple name+email registration without IDs Here is one broker I use. https://www.globalprime.com/platforms/metatrader-windows/ And here are some video instructions https://www.axi.com/au/learn-to-trade/forex-video-tutorials
I opened an account at Pepperstone because they offer MT5. I already had MQL5 software, and wasn't keen on rewriting that to make it run on MT4. Also, they are regulated in Australia, not in some obscure Caribbean island nation. https://pepperstone.com/en/
You can download MT4 and MT5 from the broker’s website and can get to know about both the platforms there as they are free to use if you have an account with them.
What according to you is the better option among these two? Also, I was wondering if I need a broker to use these platforms.
See this completely depends on the trader and his comfort. Leave aside beginners; there are experienced traders I know who are still comfortable using the MT4 trading platform, even though MT5 on the other hand is a more advanced platform. Let me sum up the differences among these two for you: · MT4 allows only hedging while MT5 allows both hedging and netting. · With MT5 platform, you’ll get a better depth into the market for a better idea about the bids and prices across the market. · There’s an economic calendar to update you about the latest macroeconomic news. · Interactive charts come fully loaded in both. MT4 includes 9 timeframes and MT5 comes with 21. · MT5 platform also includes multilingual Unicode and unlimited symbols. · The MT4 platform, you can engage in Forex and CFDs, while with MT5, you can invest in stocks, bonds, and futures. As far as a broker is concerned, I really don’t think you can use either of these 2 platforms without one. I for instance have used XTB, Plus500, Fxview and Swissquote and have done rather well.
Not necessarily correct, as you can download MT5 here, without having a broker: https://www.metatrader5.com/en/download Of course one needs a broker for live trading.
