There is no real point in living other than sense of being. And by being, I mean an ongoing being before and after this life. This is what all religion is based upon and gives us our inherent sense of right and wrong. For without this, there is no reason to be civil and appreciative. We would just go ahead and destroy each other immediately.
I am not a religious person, but do believe in after life and soul. --How else could you explain who "You" are?
Likely we reincarnate --not necessarily on this planet. One would hope that all the Ted Bundys go to one place and others go elsewhere. --When some people at "Elsewhere" reveal themselves to be demons, a further weeding is done in next lives and so on and so on. --Probably why the universe is so large and still expanding.
Joking aside, there is no objective, universally accepted reason for living, no matter how so many religions try to tell you otherwise. With my collecting stamps example I was trying to show that everyone has to find their own meaning and fulfillment. Some never find it, some find several reasons and some don't even bother, that is not to say they are worse off then the ones who keep searching for meaning in everything. Blessed are the ignorant... Also your meaning of life doesn't even have to be a positive one. I mean it is generally considered to be nicer, but some find meaning making others miserable. Philosophically speaking that can be just as fulfilling as family, or helping people, etc,etc... But then again, isn't this beauty worth dying for?:
This is a trader forum -- so, The Purpose of Living...is to accumulate as much money or Points or material possessions as possible...in this Game...of life. Shove a huge dildo up the market Casino's butt. (with no lube) -- The Casino, or House, always wins...my ass.
I also suggest the little book below for about only 130 pages of main text would be a fairly useful and practical one for daily life. Stoic Serenity: A Practical Course on Finding Inner Peace by Keith Seddon https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/661675.Stoic_Serenity BTW: This book can be read/studied by itself alone, without needing any other books. Maybe also : The Daily Stoic: 366 Meditations on Wisdom, Perseverance, and the Art of Living Hardcover – October 18, 2016 by Ryan Holiday Joining an online forum group, or local meetup.com group, for Stoics could be useful as well for getting feedback about this topic. imo Just 2 cents.
imo, perhaps one possible potential answer would be To know and find God (= Fate), in a Stoicism way! I think, there is always a continuity for puzzling over, learning, updating, creating and transferring knowledge and wisdom from one generation to next generation. In the forms of words, acts and writing etc. The ongoing mystery of encountering our Fate (individually and collectively), and striving to puzzle over/ learn/ update/ create/ transfer new knowledge and wisdom about anything that now we don't know yet, now we can't see yet, now we don't understand yet, etc. would be very much worth our daily living. I'd guess. Some trained professionals are able to carry out this kind of searching process with systematic approaches - Science! lol https://elitetrader.com/et/threads/the-argument-against-creation.317400/#post-4591516
There are lots of reasons for living once you look outward at serving your brothers/sisters and stop looking inward.
