  2. Good to hear that you start to see results. It is indeed possible that you have lost water weight. In this initial phase will your body be adapting to your new eating habits.

No reply from you. Never mind....if someone even a doctor asked me what the outcome would be after doing this protocol, it would a big loss of muscle and water , a small loss of fat with a a rebound in weight (probably fat gain) when the diet finished.

    Sound familiar?

I wrote this yesterday... but did not post.

I have not eaten before noon for over a week now.
But, I ate very poorly once I did start eating.
We had a christmas party and my wifes birthday party.
Cake and ice cream almost every evening after dinner.
So... after one week. only down about 1- 2 pounds.
But, no doubt I have lost some fat.

But, since i realize I am weak when it comes to not eating in the evenings.... I am going to try and fast completely.

Its not 2:50 in the afternoon. I have had 1.5 cups of coffee and water.
This is not easy. when i think of food I think of a picture of myself in my mind of when I had abs in my twenties and then I add some grey hair in. So far that made me walk away from the cake and the fridge.

I have also asked myself if I am a slave to food or not? that is not such a good trick. My answer was a resounding yes.

tonight is likely to be really tough.
I have hunger pains at the moment.

    I did not eat yesterday.
1.5 cups of coffee and water.
the scale had me down 3.7 pounds.
I realize my weight might yo yo a bit.
I was aware of my hunger whenever I was not distracted.
I decided to just focus and my goal and not give in.

I slept well but about an hour less than usual.
I am hungry right now but nothing like last night.
I have only one question I will entertain.
Will I drink coffee? Food is not an option today.

Feel for you mate. You are doing it all wrong. If you choose the correct foods then you should not be hungry. I'm dieting myself today (1150 calories), only time i was hungry was before breakfast...I had that at 11am, after that I've just been doing my work, no hunger pangs. Will have my dinner in a few hours. You realise if you do lose weight, you'll put back on with interest.

    Oh well.

  7. This is a great result, not to be classified as "only". You would want to lose a bit of weight steadily, so every week. A steady weekly weight loss is preferred over a large drop in weight, followed by a rebound. Don't be too impatient. It is unrealistic to expect that what you have gained over a period of (many) years can be shredded in a short few weeks.

I am not in favour of a "full fasting mode", because you can't continue this forever. Once you stop this you will fall back in your unfavourable eating habits and the weight comes back on. This is why finding your own optimal eating habits is most important. The IF was a good step in the right direction. You need to find the right balance which you can hold on to for the rest of your life. So the balance be better be something that suits you.
My advice would therefore be: stop the full fast, go back to IF, target a weight loss of 1~2 lbs/week (every week!), and find your eating balance that suits you.

Forget the targets. Concentrate on the process. Somewhat like trading.

so I was not happy with my food choices last week.

So I did a 3 day water fast. I lost 9 pounds. It was difficult but I think overall it was great.
My body seemed to be saying this is great. I hiked up and down hills with energy.
Lifting weights was another story. The recover from the weight lifting was not great. I am still a little sore.

Yesterday I had some juice and a lot of water.
This morning I was down another 2 to 3 pounds.
    11 to 12 pounds in 4 days.
Some is water weight. I would guess up to half.
But, there is no doubt fat is also being digested.
My wife says I smell like when I was on the atkins diet.

At the moment I think the 3 day water fast was the best thing I could have done. I am only hungry when I think about mexican food. Oddly part of me does not wish to eat. But, I had some juice this the morning and I am going out for a juice or a smoothie now. Before reading about them today, I never realized smothies still had the fiber in them and juices don't. My body is saying smoothie with banana in it, my brain says juice.

  10. No way you lost 6+lbs of fat in 4 days. My guess would be 1-2lbs fat, 1-2lbs muscle and the rest water. You are going about it the wrong way. You are killing your metabolism and rewiring your body to increase fat storage at the first opportunity. You will not like the results once you bring back your calories in line with your maintenance. At the end of this exercise when you lose 10lbs of fat and 10lbs of muscle you will be in worse shape than when you started despite being 20lbs lighter.
