    I have been using google for a while, it is free and easy but of course it is not safe from data mining etc.

    Just wondered what you guys use and would recommend that is easy to use and has some degree of safety, I don't mind paying for the service if I have to.

    Try hushmail.

  3. I'd been using Google Apps for a few years (both free and paid versions), but have moved away from them earlier this year for the reasons you stated. I went back to using my own mailserver - then access with Mail.app.

    If you're not interested in managing your own server, I'd highly recommend Rackspace's email service (http://www.rackspace.com/apps/email_hosting)
  4. I use gmail. What is data mining?
  5. If you take your e-mail seriously, consider https://www.FastMail.fm
    "One of the slickest, most powerful e-mail systems on the planet" The Sunday Times, London

    It's secure, reliable, extremely powerful, flexible and rock-solid, and it's fast. The only E-mail provider I know that is able to implement
    IMAP properly. You will learn some extremely powerful and convenient features you never thought they exist. No other affordable
    E-mail provider is able to give you so much power with your mailbox for so little cost. Here are some features:

    * Secure Email via WebMail, IMAP, POP and SMTP
    * Yubikey authentication available
    * Supports WAP Mobile access
    * Secure DAV file access, FTP
    * LDAP access to Address Book
    * XMPP Jabber support for Instant Messaging
    Try it. You will not be disappointed.
  6. tuffmail is rock solid. VERY satisfied long term user here (4 - 5 years now, IIRC)
