I never really thought about it until now, but howdo they decide which stock is shown on the ticker on let's say CNBC? I always thought it went alphabetically, and I think AH it does, but during trading hours some stocks show up quite frequently and others not. Since they also show the traded volume I assume that they keep showing the stocks that recently had high volume at a changed price. Is that correct?
The actual NYSE ticker prints every round lot trade in chronological order. After hours, some TV stations print the closing prices in alphabetical order. After hours "trading" on NASDAQ is never consistantly displayed. el surdo
