very articulate, open and direct in making your points BM.... if u don't mind me saying so?!!! I for one appreciate it.... regardless of contrary opinion(s) about the subject matter, of anyone on this thread. ICe
There is no logic when dealing with this type of situation. Why didn't all the drug cartel heads die in the 80's and 90's even though we had a "war on drugs". We did not see huge ocean side mansions blowing up from smart bombs on the western coast of Costa Rica did we. We new where the cartel leaders lived, but we never took them out. Why is Arafat still alive? This world is not what it seems, unfortunately due to fear. Chris
if anyone is interested in a pdf copy of the bandler book bm mentioned above, pm me. i listened to something called "all the way down I" by bandler, and it was funny, he was talking about only having to take drugs once, because once you experience the drug you can recreate the "high" over and over again in your mind without the drug....all this stuff sounds interesting to me right now but im still a bit skeptical.
Tony Robbins has had the most profound impact on my life of anyone I know. I've consistently applied his principles and it works. I've been a fan since "Giant Steps" and "Awaken the Giant Within" books, from years ago. The only thing is, unless you actually do it, and live to achieve the outcomes, it may be hard to 'believe in' at first, sounding like a lot of psychobabble hooey. eg it's yeah yeah whatever, for the cynics, at first. But, it does work. I credit TR and my consistent application of his techniques to helping me achieve whatever I need in life. As a psychologist would say, it sets the tone, gives you permission to expect success, then provides a framework to encourage you to take consistent action towards goals. Kind of hard to explain til you've done it i suppose. Now I live oceanfront Hawaii and fyi, the internal push to move to hawaii, years before dtu, back when I just wanted to change channels in life, came from my reading tony robbins' books after a particularly difficult (2nd) divorce. Anyways, I have nothing but good things to say about Tony Robbins, as he's been instrumental in my personal success, fwiw. The most important guide along the way, so to speak. For relationship type issues, Barbara D'Angelis (how do I know you're the right one for me, something like that, the title) and Mary Beatty (codependent no more), also helpful for family/relationship issue resources. And that's it, the short list. At first hearing, listening to Robbins makes you think you're hearing a cheerleader (for us cynics), and you blow it off. But then, you dig down, and again, reading the books is critical, and you start to understand the mechanics of things... at least, his stuff helped me many years ago, and I still listen to the audios now and then for motivation. ken
Hi, Why should the names of Scientist and Jack (alias bubba7 alias grob109) now be disassociated from NLP? Where they not the ones who brought this bizarre zombie brainwashing religion to the attention of ET readers? In view of the fact that these people published an unbelievable amount on ET, this little NLP nugget can only adorn their achievements. Talk about "remote viewing" may help in the markets. Alchemy and magnetism will probably follow. A lot of name dropping seems to be helpful in order to suck in the ignorant. If McKay would come back he certainly would have to add a chapter or to his "Madness of Crowds". Among the names of "the great" that have appeared in support of NLP on this board are: Nikolai Tesla, Albert Einstein, Alfred Korzybski, Henry Ford. Let us go over this little list. Henry Ford, great in automobiles, used to be a big embarrassment to the US government because of his overt enthusiasm for a foreign adept of mental retraining technique, Adolf Hitler. Nokolai Tesla, according to what I learned from historical articles published by the IEEE (Institution of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) was a truly great inventor. At the end of his life he got caught up in extravagant projects of energy transmission that nobody in the Institute seems to comprehend much about to this day. Will NLP show some light on this all? It is remarkable that Korzybski may indirectly have something to do with markets. He is in fact the first name cited by John Magee in the foreword of his book "The General Semantics of Wall Street" (1958). In contrast to "Technical Analysis of Stock Trends" the former book appears to have remained practically unknown. John Magee nevertheless writes us that he spent a lot of work on this book. As for me, I learned a lot from both books, but not quite enough to become rich trading. Reading the lesser known book by Magee will certainly relieve you from any NLP delusion. Good old Albert Einstein keeps on popping up in almost every possible and impossible corner on ET to shore up a crappy idea of darling halfwits. I read about everything that I could lay my hands on about this man - probably the greatest since Isaac Newton. Both are not without their human sides, which does not detract from their achievements. I never got the impression he had anything to do with NLP. For Einstein it is clear he never propagated nonsense like this in any of his many extra scientific writings. As an anecdote, at IAS, the Institute for Advanced Studies at Princeton both Einstein and Gödel were residents among a big lineup of other stars. In retrospect they certainly were the biggest lights that ever shone at IAS. Remarkably the historical records learn us that these two were very good friends but also kept very much apart from the others. Kurt Gödel, as he appears from what is published about him was certainly an enigmatic figure but he appears to me the exact opposite of what I read about NLP. nononsense
Thanks Ken. I have both books - "Unlimited Power" and "Awakening the Giant Within". Should I start with UP, or AGW - and, is AGW a rehash of UP or is there new stuff? Thanks much. Also - bm, looking into the event...they have it in NY in November.
good points all -- In terms of 'what order to do things in', I'd just get those two books, they're the most important thing...and they will take months to work through, and have the best impact .. eg awaken the giant within, then unlimited power .. reading both are fine ...I wouldn't do seminars or buy audio til long after reading the books (if you want, it's not really needed, just the books are needed), as they're the most important part of it all anyways. basically what TR has done is take a lot of the already existing NLP and many many other existing 'best practices' of successful people and integrate it into one body of knowledge, that he communicates well to others, to motivate etc... I've used TR's info to turn around low points in life, as well as motivate to get to new high points, further than I would've thought possible... it's a good starting place, what follows of course, is one's own hard work, patience, discipline, and focus, re-setting your boundaries, goals... all relatively commonsense stuff, but done with a depth and precision that gets results. ken
