what is market profile meant to do?

I know it shows volume at each level however is this supposed to be predictive?

Market profile just shows you historical levels where price reverted or broke through into next level. Similar to support resistance levels which imply statistical outliers.

 

What is all the letters?

 

Sequential trades within those levels.

 

The Futex guys (now Axia Futures) know their stuff... maybe this video will help you.

 

technical analysis in general doesn't give much edge... profile is the same, the tea leaves are too ambiguous.

the clarity can be greatly enhanced if you consider additional factors - news stories, earning cycles, asset class valuations.
