Yes, if they decide that mass adoption is their goal, I am sure they will find a way to tweak the algo.

this is just another Tech company with no real product or service that is sustainable long term. People are still old fashioned... they want to deal with real money, me too. This will eventually be one of the biggest tumbles ever. How many tech stocks that had a product that was gonna change the world are even still in business?

Define real money. How long has paper money been around vs gold or silver coins?

If you are confident, then short it. Anything else is mental masturbation.

wish I could... but that is one expensive stock to short. I can't believe I am the only one who thinks this is just a hyped up stock ready to take a huge hit. The product is not in demand. People still trust their currency. I looked and found articles of why no money managers own the stock. This is just air, nothing more. I wish I could find the article on the Hedge Fund manager that dumped his entire holdings. He said the same exact thing I am saying here.

anyway, time will tell who is right

I was comparing this to tech companies that are long gone that also had no real product that anyone wanted, all of those companies went totally bust. This is like trying to tell the world that they need this. I have my opinion and everyone else has theirs... let's just agree to disagree and let time tell who's right.

If the Winklewii decide to sell their 100K coins, that is the same effect when a HF dumps their shares on the market...

If the 1 million Satoshi coins enters the market suddenly, the price drops 80% at least. But it could recover quickly, although a few dozen people might get heart attacks in the process...

  8. I'm not sure what you mean with real money - bitcoin is as real as plastic/credit cards/gift cards and other currencies - doesn't mean it stays where it is - it may go up or down just like the Euro - but it's definitely real. It's accepted at a limited set of merchants - just like anything else. Try to pay @ Amazon with cash - try to hire a hitman on silk road with a credit card - neither one works. If it makes you feel better you can print a picture of it and put it under the mattress.

Gold has inherent physical properties that make it a medium of exchange. There is a reason why most people on the planet agree that gold is a desirable material. Bitcoin shares some properties with gold, but you can't find bitcoin on the periodic table.
