    1. $5K is enough to trade 1 ES unless your broker allows you to daytrade with less margin... then you might be able to trade 2 or 3.
    2. The face value of 1 ES = about $50K right now. That's the leverage.
    3. Minimum margin for the full SP contract is >$20K.
    4. The full SP can be sort-of traded online, but it's not an electronic market. That is, orders may be placed online, but they are routed through the open outcry pit and executed in "normal" style. (This often results in greater slippage for market orders.)

    Risk management of 1% or less should be rule of thumb for all trades.
