Because its most likely the same "Joe" that watches sports with his friends, wearing his his baseball cap backwards, yelling loudly ".....YEAHHHH" at the TV screen when a team scores, and has empty beer bottles all around the coffee table with almost empty pizza boxes. The same "Joe" that keeps drinking beer after beer with his friends... who also have their caps turned backwards.... and all think that a woman with huge breast implants on TV is "sexy" .......... thats the Joe 6 pack that Palin is courting. Back in the day, this was a reference to the average guy. No more, no less. It was used regularly in the media circles to talk to and about masses who were not priveledged or silver spooned. It simply meant the guy who worked hard at the factory all day, came home, kissed the wife, found the Berkline recliner and kicked his feet up, turned on the ballgame and had a beer.
