Been here since '99. Like someone mentioned, Lescor is still around too. About half the guys I knew 10 years ago are still trading today, but most of them aren't on ET anymore.
I'd like to know what happened to 40yotrader. His system-related posts were very informative and detailed. I did wonder if I'd come across him a while back when looking at CTA profiles (http://www.autumngold.com/Advisor/cta_profile.php?id=113290).
Most traders, I guess, keep his trading until die or broke. Also there are more broke rate, like in the 2009 crisis, who enjoyed high loan.
Can you detail how, exactly, did HFT destroy daytrading? Did they make classic TA like fib's, support/resistance useless?
For the umpteenth time- HFT does not matter if you are trading small lots. But try buying size and you will see the answer to your question.
You answered your own question. Profitable day trading has very little to do with the things you mentioned.
