Kind of strange that the big boys are using market orders. I always thought they would need to use limits. I wouldn't send a market order in for 100 YM contracts. Banker
I dont trade mini Dow futures, mainly euro indexes and occasionally the SnP, but what would the effect be of placing 100 contracts to sell AT market.. is there or was there sufficient depth on the dow at the time.?...certainly selling 100 contracts near the close in the euro indexes with no offer on the other side and in a very thin market as was today would have an effect on FTSE & Dax etc.. indeed having been an execution trader I would have drip fed 10 lots of 10 ensuring the client got good fills... if 100 at market was a wild decicision in itself I would become very Suspicious and am indeed becoming so.. so to any seasoned Dow mini trader out there : what was the depth like at the time ?
I don't think there is a need for more arguments, this one was radical manipulation, and someone should call the FBI and / or the CTFC about it, since it was a crime. I am not a US citizen, but someone should do it. Maybe complain at the exchanges or call the FBI directly ? There is probably still some proof of a link between the "10k YM order guy" and the firm who sold about 5000 - 15000 ES in front. (I calculated this number w/ prop sw from tick charts)
Biq Question... can u see that initial seller of 5000-15000 in the SnP coming back in and buying them back at the low?.... so his Dow minis have been busted.. therefore we can almost calculate the profit made from here
CFTC i mean. of course. If these guys get away with this, be ready to have this kind of mkt during each holiday trading session, anyway.
If you "know" that someone sold that many cars - why is it "about 5000 - 15000" - a 10,000 car range?
I'm not really convinced of the conspiracy theories - how dumb would one have to be to attempt such a transparent scam? I mean it takes about as much imagination as pulling the fire alarm to get out of math class. OTOH - after following Frank Quattrone's exploits nothing should surprise anymore.
