  1. Ray's has gotta be the most over hyped place since SHAK--- simply not much better than the $1 slice before the lincoln tunnel

  2. Years ago when i lived there one coworker, old chap born and raised in NYC used to tell me:
"You don't have to go anywhere, they all come over here from every corner of the Globe."

If they all come to NYC from everywhere including me they bring their cuisine. So living there you kind of learn about specific cuisine without going anywhere.

Best Peruvian food i ever tried at one restaurant in Hell's Kitchen, for years used to got there once a week

    Lomo Saltado delicious.

  3. That's exactly why hedge funds pay big bucks for rent on major corridors in NYC. Our CIO use to say, every billionaire in the world comes down this street at one time or another, hence my office location.

  4. Not produced there, but a lot of gold is stored in New York.

Don't know updated figures but from a quick google search....

"Federal Reserve Bank of New York holds the prize as the world's biggest known stockpile of gold, some 550,000 glistening bars of the stuff buried deep into the bedrock of lower Manhattan. That's $203.3 billion worth of gold in a single place. Just 2% to 5% of it is owned by the U.S. government, though."Forbes 2008

If you factor in the black market (recreational drugs/prostitution/gambling) like other countries have started to do than NYC has got to be the highest GDP per square mile than any other place in the world.
