What does ER and ES and the 'Y?' one mean?

Discussion in 'Strategy Building' started by shortorlong, Feb 13, 2008.

  1. I've seen ER, ES and Y? (YD?YP?) abbreviations before.

    Are these particular stocks?

    Also, what are eMinis?

    It seems as though a lot of price-action traders are using the above set.

  2. ER = Russel futures
    ES = S&P Futures
    YM = DOW Futures

    ES, ER trade on Globex

    YM on ECBOT

    Look at their websites for more info

    edit: These are the eminis, less $$ per tick than the full size contracts.

  3. Thanks a lot, that is helpful.

    So, S&P Futures, that is a single futures contract that is 'betting' on the value of the S&P?

    Do regular platforms like ThinkOrSwim allow us to plot and trade these, or is everyone using custom software/platforms?

  4. yes you can trade them with TOS
