What do you call yourself?

  1. Two significant points:

    A. Lobster's sarcasm is extremely wry. His intent is often the opposite of what it seems when you take him at face value.

    B. Those census figures for "median averages" encompass everyone, including the unemployed. The average incomes include all the women without paychecks. Those figures don't actually prove that being a woman in itself results in someone receiving lower wages at a job.

  2. Now, that's what I call my kind of humor. :)

  3. Don't kid yourself...it's just like Lennon said "Woman is the
nigger of the world" And, this country should be
ashamed of how it treats women. Just take the Augusta deal,
    that's BS.

  4. While that is true, I would also like to point out that in the post you referenced, I was merely trying to call those people morons who make 60k or 80k and think that makes them better than those who make half of that or less. Maybe it would help if I told you that the five people closest to me whom I consider anything but morons probably don't make 80k TOGETHER. It's a little different than what you might think, since 3 of them don't live in America, but still I certainly did not intend to call all people who make less than the average person morons.

  5. "We make her paint her face and dance . . . "

I don't make any woman paint her face and dance. They paint their faces and dance because they want to. And if I were to suggest to any woman that she oughtn't paint her face and dance, she'd tell me right away where to shove my opinions.

And when you're talking about impoverished conditions of the average female, the actions of an upper class private country club are about the last area deserving of sympathetic outrage.

p.s. Does the LPGA allow men to play on their tour? Of course not. Why then should the PGA have a reverse obligation?

  7. Look around! This is America! This is 2003. Everyone has something about himself or herself that makes them different from the good-looking well-educated 22 year-old caucasian male, 6'2", 180lbs (all muscles), perfect vision, patience, compassion, unlimited capital (self-earned, obviously), 180 IQ, American and European citizen etc. etc.

Some people can't walk, others can't see or have some other kind of disability. I can understand that those might wish to be able to do certain things that they just can't do.

But if you try to blame your difficulties on the fact that your skin is black or you don't have a weed whacker, then I believe it's time for you to wake up and take control of your life. It's what you make of it, and if you try to make something of it, it is never easy.
