It was because laws didn't allowed them to take anything else, usury was considered the shamefull job. Rothschild came in and they made history. Then they kept prestige because they entered the aristocracy while remaining bankers and financial advisor. They worked AND partied. You can't keep insight about the world if you don't do both. You can compare them with rockefeller and morgan. Or Gates and Pickens. Also they made the dangerous task of securing the region surrounding oil pipeline and suez canal. They got paid for that. They took huge risks but were wise enough to get with wise mentor. They didn't isolate and wait for luck. Some have been asshole all their lives, some have been heroes all their lives. Some have been both. Are you an hero or just someone who hope for little local stability? You would think after Hitler they would learn to distrust big government. 75% of the absentee ballots from Israel voted for McCain yet 75% of the Jewish Americans voted for Obama. I don't get it.
