So I'm not following the "Currently if one donates to enough politicians one can have a complete tax exemption for oneself written into any bill at all... So a lot of small businesses don't pay anything." line of thinking. I happen to run a small business. I pay plenty of taxes either as corporate taxes on the company or income taxes on my income from the company. And I don't have nearly enough money to get a bill passed to exempt me from paying said taxes. I don't know of any small businesses that have that much money or pull, that's why we're called "small". You do realize that an LLC passes profits to the owners who are taxed at the ordinary income rate, and a C corp that pays profit out in salary also subjects the owner to ordinary income taxes on all that money usually at the top marginal or AMT rate if they're actually successful? Have you ever owned and run a small business? Can you share exactly what laws you took advantage of to avoid paying taxes if you were profitable, because I sure haven't been able to find them! Plus I still don't know what you have against introverts or for that matter the technically correct term for the type of tax you're proposing, which is "regressive" as opposed to progressive taxes, so named because they "progressively" increase as income increases. No inherent value judgement in the words, although you seem to have no problem pronouncing judgement to any and all you happen to either disagree with or not understand. I don't see a lot of "people on the left" firebombing anyone for anything, let alone a disagreement on tax policy, what in the world would lead you to even make that comment?
I had access to the tax codes. I took one of the books off the shelf. I opened it at a random place and started reading. I was looking at page after page of exemptions from income tax. You just donate to a politician and they can do that for you. They were all worded like "if a company is located west of the Alleghany river and south of the 34degrees blah blah [no company name iow] they shall be exempt from paying Federal Income tax". I always wondered why lots of people don't care about the size of government even though you would think otherwise! The only people that you can completely reliably tax are the powerless people that get a paycheck. That is one reason that socialism aka the growth of government always destroys the middle class. Currently we seem to be collecting from the 1% but they can actually revolt if they feel like it. I'm sure that they are getting their money's worth out of the deal or at least perceive things as such. All this can be dealt with anytime we want to but not with some bullshit "fair tax" where people can bribe their way out with a donation to a politician. Only a consumption tax can be written into some computer code in every point of sale terminal in the country. That is cast in concrete. People would have to have laws written wherein the IRS rebates them money annually or something like that and that is a little outlandish in comparison to an exemption. Everybody gets exemptions right?
