  1. New book I just got this week.

I hate the syntax of R with a passion but this book is a good example of what makes R good. There is not much in terms of non-linear time series analysis for python let alone an entire book on the subject. If you hate R programming as much as I do, chatGPT4 makes using these amazing libraries palatable.

  2. I finished a couple books this week. One not worth mentioning, the other, was 'The Fund' regarding Dalio.

That one went worse and worse, to the point it was a boring chore to get through. Seems Copeland just keeps going back to some feminist rant over and over... Dalio treats a woman the say way he would a man, and that's evil and sexist and how dare he. If he treats any woman different, then again that's sexist. If he underpays, it's sexist. And if he over-pays, it's sexist because he's doing it to cover up sexual scandals, etc.

On and on in some feminist loop. Sigh... I had been hoping for something much better.

Early on I was hoping it would be great. For example, I didn't know that Dalio worked briefly for Paul Tudor Jones before the crash of '87. Unfortunately, there is little mentioned about this, though the writer snubs Dalio here and states he was fired/let go because despite his research had alpha, it was so little alpha that Jones found it useless.

Most of this book was pointless to me almost, as when the author isn't doing some one-sided feminist rant, he's going on and on and on about how Dalio is an evil person because he demanded reality over feelings. And how he forced employees to be rated on baseball cards. lol

So... with that shit book out of the way, here's something I picked up cheap at a thrift store, and honestly I'm looking forward to getting into next month.

  4. One of these years, I'll get around to completing Schwager's set...

As for now, I just finished this one. Though, half of it is better said in Charles Mackay's classic.

  5. I also started this book today. Picked it up at a thrift store, as I admit I'm not an expert on Investment Banking. This is geared for those prepping for their interviews, and others planning into that career.

I'm only 50 pages in, but like this so far a lot better than I thought I would. It covers the basics like PE, EPS, PEG, and then continues onto basic cash-flow to yield curves, spreads, etc.

Some recent iBank history, etc. I have no complaints. Very condensed but easy to read and understand of what makes S-1 filings, S-2 & S-3, etc.

Note: The book is a little old as it was written right when Google was getting ready for the IPO. But so far, just as relevant today.

  7. I stayed out of the Cannabis bubble in Canada many years ago, because one quick look at the evaluations showed how stupidly insane the evaluations were. Basically a repeat of Yahoo.com during the tech-bubble all over again.

But now... I decided to pick this one up at the library. Not to invest of course, just wanting to see some of the stuff being shilled that was part of the hype. Maybe there is something still to learn about these bubbles...
