  1. there are new options expiring on last day of the month now ?!

should you just ignore them and trade the regular contract?

  2. What underlying? If it's SPX, there have been weeklies traded for at least 4-5 months.

If it's Lumber, the last day of the month was always expiration.

  3. ETF's

  4. There are EOM ES options as well.

FullyArticulate had the answer in his link. These are End-of-Quarter options. I think they had them once years ago. Institutions clamored for them, then didn't trade them. This was before ETF's though. They came out not too long ago, it'll be interesting to see if EOQ at the end of the year trade.

  6. I was at a thinkorswim seminar and asked about them. He said that mutual funds had requested them but there was probably no advantage to the retail trader over the regular SPX...however the options on EW seem to be good to trade as a short term diagonal. If you have the ability to trade options on futures:p
