Does anyone have insights on the best or most popular session hours for calculating floor pivots (standard floor pivots) for gold futures? The floor session is 9 to 14:30 EST, but there is plenty of trading outside those hours. I have used both the floor hours and a 24hr session that starts and ends at 14:30 EST, and both give useful pivots. Some traders are probably using one or the other, or maybe both (or something else?).
The answer is whichever data set gives you meaningful S/R levels! Any Fx data released overnight is certainly going to effect gold trading. Generally speaking, "Floor" pivots are calculated using RTH data values, this does not make them more/less significant vs other data. surdo
