so aswell as the levels (prior day/week hi, low, close, pre market hi+low) you also use the intraday 'swings'? red circle wouldn't have triggered a short? (or even the 1st short on that chart could have triggered a breakout long trade?) - are you looking at a special pattern on the 1minute to trigger your entry?
QUESTION: ANSWER: I let price tip me off. Breaking a level isn't an entry. The entry is when the breakout pauses and then pushes high (or lower). And the most important principle of them all is "when in doubt, buy the dip."
Sekiyo, Do you also test the impact of using different methods of order entry after a signal appears, e.g., with limit, at-the-next-open, or stop orders?
That’s something to consider but I mostly take signals based on the close then enter on the close or next candle open. On my main strategy I look for a breakout, wait for the close then put a limit order on the level but I will use a market order when I feel like it’s not going to be filled. That’s something to test if the strategy show potential right from the start. I don’t think it can turn a losing strategy into a winning one. Might be wrong. IDK. Good question.
