s2007s, you must be bored.... i bought sirius for howard. listening for 20 years. his show is sometimes intelligent, funny, and a turn on. all at different times. i think a lot of these guys are overpaid (athlete, owners, etc); but howard unquestionably has changed radio. if one studied the history, an intelligent person would conclude similarly. a lot of simple people listen, and people like me: educated, own a 50 person business/building with zero debt and trade regularly. the point i am trying to make is; only someone who has not consistently listened to him and studied radio history could say he is unworthy. i was not so sure for sirius/howard longterm success, but since mel came on as ceo, i have a lot of confidence. i do not own the stock; just the radio's....yet.
Those of you who call Stern "garbage" "trash" "vulgar" etc. haven't ever listened long enough to understand why people like the show. If you're saying that you listened a few times and it was gross or all the sex stuff got old you didn't really listen. People listen to the show because it's a soap opera...it's a bunch of comedians and celebrities hanging out and joking about everything. No doubt it's not intelligent...actually, it's dumbed down some of the time as a joke. If you don't remember what Stern's demographic strongpoints are you obviously never paid attention. There's a reason guys like "Opie and Anthony" aren't getting paid like him. Calling Stern overpaid is just silly. If there was a war to be won between XM and Sirius over any single radio talent Stern was the one...without Stern Sirius wouldn't be in the strategic point of potentially buying out XM now...it would be the other way around. Whether or not their business models come to fruition is another story...but Sirius wouldn't be a quarter of what it is without Stern and anyone who says different is naive or lying.
