  6. Have a question for you.....how long does it take to drive from Boca Raton (main city area) to the Miami South Beach area?

    Thanks!

Depends on traffic; at 3 a.m. on a Sunday night, and no construction, maybe 45 -50 minutes. At 5 p.m. during a weekday, maybe 90-100 minutes. Traffic in South Florida between WPB and MIA is awful and is fast becoming as nightmare as bad as exists in NYC and LA.

This is not a hot spot for jobs in any field except for maybe hospitality -- still. There are jobs here but no more, generally speaking, per capita than in most other cities in the U.S. And, if you want to work south of Fort Lauderdale, it is almost -- almost -- mandatory that you be English/Spanish bilingual. This, still, is an area where people come after they have made their money, usually up in the Northeast in the corporate world or in real estate, and they are now downshifting, semi-retiring, pursuing second careers or flat-out retiring. It is not an area where young hot shots with big dreams start and develop substantial world class careers, with exceptions being hooking a job with a few small hedge funds, financial services/trust folks or in real estate development. Personally, I can't imagine why someone in their 20s would choose to live full-time in South Florida, when there are so many more culturally and professionally invigorating places to live in the world. (London? Shanghai? NYC?) You must be a climate junkie and willing to make the trade off. Sounds too early in your career to do this. Or your dreams are modest, which is ok.
