I don't agree. Bush still has veto for 2 more years, whether Dem's take the Senate or not, it's still gridlock because we still have Bush.

The REAL worry is in the next Presidential Election.... with the current sentiment about Bush (and I don't see it changing), if Dems get the House AND Senate... then we get a Dem Pres...OMG... we have a problem.

All we can do is cross our fingers that the Dems DO NOT win the Senate too.

  5. Bush won't veto much. I'm from Texas and I know. When he was governor the texas congress was democratic. He worked very well with the democrats. The only reason bush did not work well with the democrats while being president is he didn't think he had to. Nothing else.

Bush is more of a democrat then a republican and has been for his entire political career. He spent enormous amounts of money in Texas with his democratic friends. He was the largest spender as governor in texas history.

I am a staunch republican, but if the democrats could have mustered a decent candidate I would have voted democratic in the last two elections. He IS and ALWAYS HAS BEEN fiscally irresponsible.

he does have veto but what you dont get is many were anticipating a Democrat win and a Republic win, however it may be that the democrats win both, which is a negative for wallstreet.

polls still show democrats have montana and virginia, possible recount is most likely holding back the outcome.. Markets havent moved much in the last 1hr 30 mins.

  7. I would be happy if they win the Senate. Then it would firmly keep Bush in check. If that happens though I will vote McCain just to keep the dems in check. Absolute power always corrupts. Look no further than the last several years. I would rather risk gridlock than have an unjustified war and a bankrupt country. Oh yeah, that' right we don't track M-3 so WTF. Just print some more money. :p

I'm not sure I'd want McCain for President... mostly because the President of the US's job is to submit our national budgets and be Commander in Chief.

On every other count, I like McCain, but while his status as a war hero is commendable, he is also a tremendous hawk, at a time where the US needs a President more focused on the economy.

It still depresses me that he lost the 2000 Primaries to Bush... I don't think we'd be in the mess we are today if he won that. But for 2008... it's not going to happen. Unless something else happens between now and then, no one's going to vote for another President that voted for the war in Iraq with the kind of war hawk sentiment he has... that era is over for most Americans.

The only chance of a Republican Pres in 2008 is if the Dem candidate is pathetic and the Republican candidate is a proven centrist.
