tRump wants to renegotiate the trade bill he himself made with Canada and Mexico in his first disaster of a term. He has noooooooooo clue what he will do one minute to the next.
I don't work in law enforcement nor do I live in a border town. Thus, no suggestions for how to stop the flow of drugs or guns. As for disarming citizens...it's deeper than that. As a dual citizen, U.S. citizens have a much deeper love for their gun ownership (legal and illegal) than Canadian citizens. I can easily determine who is carrying a concealed gun while shopping in U.S. stores. In contrast, I've never seen a Canadian carrying a conceal weapon in a Canadian store. I have seen more private businesses in the U.S. with "Guns Not Allowed" signs, more government buildings with "Guns Not Allowed" signs in the United States than in comparison to Canada. There's more fear in the United States while there's more gun control in Canada. Further, the few Canadians who do own a gun...they don't make it part of their normal conversation whereas U.S. citizens tend to act as if they need to discuss guns at meal time as if they need to be ready to protect their family from an invasion as if it could be a scene from the movie Red Dawn. Simply, gun ownership in Canada is very low key and less of an importance in comparison to the United States. One could say owning a gun in Canada is not a key variable to protecting your family in your environment. You wonder how would Canada repel an invasion if another country wants to invade it? The question really is WHY would someone invade a country like Canada...it's because Canada is a strategic North location to the United States...the latter is also more of a deterrent for the reason why another country would not try to invade Canada because the United States shares a border with Canada. A vast majority of Canada's population is on the northern border (towards the east)...populated also by U.S. citizens who have a deep cultural and economic ties between the two countries. Simply, an invasion of Canada will quickly attract a military response from the United States military. It will first be a response by the Navy and Air Force whereas ground troops if needed would be the Army and Marines. More importantly, the United States and Canadian military forces cooperate on continental defense within the framework of the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD), the world's only binational military command. Further, the United States has a few elite military bases and units in the West who do military training exercises with the Canadian forces in cold weather environment on a regular bases of Canada's northwest...similar to the military exercises between United States and South Korea as a deterrent against North Korea. Lastly, Canada is a proud member of NATO and does not threaten NATO it may pullout for financial reasons (other countries not pulling their weight although the U.S. made an agreement it would be the big dog in NATO so that the U.S. can advance Democracy in the world). Thus, if Canada is attacked...Canada would get help in the form as a military response from NATO especially now that the European Union will be putting billions of dollars into strengthening it's military after losing faith in the United States when it became more friendly with Russia (it now has North Korean troops on the ground in Russia to help Russia) and less friendly with NATO. My spouse and I were both U.S. military officers when we were deciding where we would raise a family...start a family. We only knew without a doubt it would not be in the United States even though I had family in the U.S. and most of our education was in the United States...she's Canadian American and I'm French American. Our priorities - Safety (less crime and less violent crime), better gun control, universal healthcare, outdoor, winter activities, quality of life, and family support by the government (federal & provincial). Quebec, Canada was then selected the best choice for our primary residence while designating our home in the United States as a vacation home. Crossing the border by plane both ways was about the same involving customs but there was a difference when we crossed the border by car. Our first car, when I immigrated to Canada, still had military tags, and Fort Campbell Kentucky Airborne Ranger information...we both had high security clearances. The Canadian border guards would pull us aside and do an extensive interview/background checks to ensure we were not bringing in any weapons along with asking above than necessary questions about why we were visiting Canada and if the visit was military related although we showed we were married...they didn't care she was Canadian American (Canadian and U.S. citizen). Yet, after I left the military while she was still in the military...we then had a new car that contain no military association information...we have never again been pulled aside at the border crossing. Thus, the first car was the trigger for unusual long border stops because of the U.S. military information. wrbtrader
Ok, so the guy who hired Bobby Brainworm knows what he's doing. The market sure fricken doesn't know what he is doing. Glad you think you know what he is doing. You and all the rest of the Kool-Aid drinking MAGA faithful. Do you also dance to the LGBTQ Village People's YMCA song like Dotard and Marko Mark Brown do every chance you can. I won't tell.
That comment right theya is guaranteed to not age well. Canada is in the lead-up to electing a new Prime Minister- the previous one having been driven out by Trump. Whether it is a conservative or a liberal who wins, the next prime minister will be aching to get out from under the tariff situation and to pound their chest and say that they are taking their tariffs down because they just won some big and ballsy concessions from Trump. It's what they do. Ditto for Mexico. Whatever.
What if it's the US invading? I never thought it was even a remote possibility but with the guy running the show you never know. I can hear the rationalization now. "Canada is very important to national security and they are not doing what I want so we'll just anex them. Who is going to stop us?"
Our guys would put a bullet in Trump's head. I'm dead serious whomever shoots him would be a national hero. That would end it pretty quickly. Some of Trump's security might even invite them in.
Your whole content the last few months won't age well. Trump is shaking in his boots now wondering why Canada isn't playing ball with him. Americans will be aching to get out from under the tariff situation it won't take long and Trump will have to cave.
It is interesting that in English they keep talking about two continents, still America means the whole thing sometimes. Too weird. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Americas#/languages But in other language America is a continent and there are north and south subdivisions of the continent, as it is contained in the fucking word. https://es.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/América Why do you guys make up geography? You have a thing with calling things differently. No wonder the drama about the Gulf of Mexico
