  1. 7 minutes to the open and I've been up since 6:00 am researching. these really are the important hours. My main idea is Anadarko... it's a ballsy bet but the way things shape up with the shorts if we could push this past $5o in the next month which we can if the well gets sealed and that's a big if... however a firm statement by the CEO that they fel BP is gross and they feel they have no liability-- that would do it too.

    here's a blurb from Schaffer june 3-

Anadarko Petroleum Corporation (APC) was hit with a substantial price-target cut. FBR Capital maintained its "overweight" rating on the stock, but slashed its price target by about 39%, from $90 to $55. The new estimate implies expected upside of roughly 19% from Thursday's close.

Meanwhile, options traders seem to have their own near-term price target for APC. In today's trading, speculators appear to be selling calls at the July 50 strike. By doing so, these speculators are betting on APC to remain pinned below $50 through the next six weeks.

However, the stock could actually be on the verge of a near-term bounce. APC's Relative Strength Index (RSI) of 27 is solidly planted in oversold territory, suggesting that the shares are overdue for a rebound.

  2. I'm on my own.

Bought 225 APC just under $43.

Today in congress we will see that BP was grossly negligent as well if the Feds press charges that will prove said fact.

APC would be relieved of at least some of their liability here. This is really a shot in the dark folks I 'm not sure how this will turn out. My fair value for this name is somewhere around $65 with lets say $5 or $6 Billion in payout... Could be a sling shot lets see the way the day plays out.

My writing desk comes today I hope! Soon I will be more comfy in my trading & research. Ok fingers crossed APC up $4 at the close... ~ stoney

  3. ... interesting

Gross, manager of the world’s biggest bond fund, also purchased 6- to 12-month Anadarko debt, Porterfield wrote. The Woodlands, Texas-based Anadarko’s 6.75 percent notes due in 2011 rose 0.5 cent to 98 cents, Trace data show. In earlier trading the securities declined to 96.5 cents, the lowest ever, and down from 106.25 cents on Dec. 31.

Reuters and CNBC earlier reported the bond purchases by Newport Beach, California-based Pimco.

  4. At first blush it would seem the play was RIG. I was in the right racetrack wrong horse. 70 or more cents have been enjoyed today by a few folks I have spoken too-- their liability is perhaps more contained. Am I guilty of wishing up a holding I have watched go down. Hoping a short pop will make up for some of the losses. Not really lets not forget it's only 225 shares, it's a bet on the Fed's going after BP and gross negligence being accused; we need not wait for it all to play out just the sniff of that will send APC up. I hope.

The latest economic numbers feel like they are turning on us. It's been a few bits of bad news... yet here we are not really going down. The next step is a market that goes up on bad news... that's almost happening with these oil stks and perhaps will happen to us tomorrow.

My desk. It's still not here. when you deal with ebay you deal with freaks. Another hold up truck is broken now...

UPDATE L&L Energy Looks like another $78 mil in rev coming on stream-- this company is a money printing machine I believe once it gets rolling. You really don't want to caught without this stock in your portfolio. ~stoney

  5. Why me? what is going on, life is so strange now. I almost just beat up a hedge fund manager and his lackies.

I'm completely on edge granted I finally looked up tingly feet on the internet and got the long list of calamities it could be. It reads horrible. I'm super depressed now and really considering seeing a Dr soon but won't do any of the tests required to rule out Diabetes, Shingles, Chrones, I could go on and on MS. Lack Vitamin B can play a roll I'm holding out hope for that.

Anyway I'm a bit jacked up and pissed that I missed RIG today and landed on APC and it's 5:30 and I take the wife and kid to Union Square Cafe. We like to sit at the bar- for those of you that don't know this is a classy place. Immediately to my right is a group of hedge fund guys with one guy talking super loud about the fund, the fund the fund and this deal and that deal and how much they could promise 5% and how much they could make 15% and how much to the fund the fund the fund... all the time my already tingly hairs are getting more tingley and I'm starting to kick my restless feet against the bar stool to wake them up. I shot the guy a few glances but when the $90 bottle of wine came and he was still blabbing about Tobias (I assume the guy that wound up in the swimming pool) I finally lost it.

I said something like are are you having a business meeting here? and it got ugly quick. i am shouting in a Danny Meyer restaurant people are looking all over- I say I'm having dinner with my wife and I want you to shut up. Hey That's not politeblah blah blah, I'll talk as loud as I want! PLEASE BE QUIET PLEASE BE QUIET PLEASE BE QUIET I just yelled over and over. My poor wife she's shrinking into the next seat and she knows all that guy has top do is get off his stool and I'm going to be in the New York Post tomorrow. I was really going to do some damage because I'm so jacked about these other heath issues.. I eyed his group not a one wanted to back him up. They were being paid to listen to him mouth off all night long. I wanted to level all my rage against the system out against the one slovenly drunk hedge fund manager who won't shut up... he represented everything awful about stocks the business. When I said I watch stocks all day I don't need this now... he said you can't be doing very good or you would have a reservation. Or be at La Cirque. ditto buddy.

Of course they are just drinking I'm actually eating a whole meal and so with the blood pumping through my veins, my feet numb and the bill is north of $250 I call it a night.~stoney

  6. As crazy as this sounds you can probably buy BP today. Obama had a subtle change in tone-- " this is a strong viable company " or something like hat. This is a liquidation dance in which the glass can never get that empty-- everyone needs BP to survive. The CEO though. What a petulant little brat.

“Tony Hayward’s body language as he walked behind his chairman as seen in the newsreels was quite remarkable,” Howard Wheeldon, senior strategist at BGC Partners, the inter-broker, said of Mr Hayward’s appearance following his meeting with President Barack Obama on Wednesday: “It was as if the chief executive might have said, had he had the chance, that he was absolutely terrified and felt completely out of his depth. I find myself in the very unusual situation suggesting that the days of both men as members of the BP board will probably be short-lived.”

In other news the Flash Crash is being quietly talked about. Here too I wonder just how hard they are really looking. The answer the SEC says they are searching for I'm sure they don't want to find.

11:01am: Ms Schapiro said she would agree with a policy to allow the Federal Reserve to provide immediate liquidity to the markets in a crisis.

10:20am: Ms Schapiro said the SEC is looking at bringing in a third party firm to help them crunch the numbers to solve the market plunge riddle.

10:18am: Senator Reed, the committee chairman, said he remains “disturbed” that nobody knows what caused the plunge. Ms Schapiro called that a “fair statement” that cause of the plunge remains a mystery and said that the SEC is plowing through an extraordinary amount of data to figure it out.

10:10am: On circuit breakers, Ms Schapiro is asked why they work when stocks are on the way up. She explains that fairness has to work in both directions. Mr Gensler explains that they are there to make markets orderly, not for price setting, and the break allows liquidity back in.

10:06am: Ms Schapiro said that the SEC is giving more scrutiny to dark pools, has proposed a large trader reporting system and has proposed a study looking at how high frequency trading impacts retail investors. The regulator said its ultimate goal is fair, efficient markets and the ability to raise capital.

9:54am: Next up is Mr Gensler, who is focused on the futures markets. He says that volatility was already more than 60 per cent higher on May 6 than it was on May 5. The CFTC looked at the 10 most active accounts during the crash, and nine were both long and short, he said.

9:49am: SEC staff is examining recalibrating its existing circuit breakers, which were not triggered during the crash, Ms Schapiro says. “If active trading firms exploited their superior trading resources and significantly contributed to the severe price swings on May 6, we must consider whether regulatory action is needed to address the problem,” she said in her testimony.

Meg Whitman is turning into one of the most awful people, she was already well on her way shoving workers and such all documented but now she is running for political office and buying her way in-- paying something gross like $8,000 a vote, although of course all that money is wasted none actually gets to the folks that need it. Anyway she ran Ebay into the ground (allowing me to pick up a chunk at $12.00) and she has left a very strange site where freaks deal used writing desks and when delivery time comes-- the onus is on you to complete the deal.

Here is my transcript of the phone call to " David " on the subject of my desk. please remember this is now the second big delay-- the first he was building crates in the NJ night and was being attacked by bugs I kid you not...

Awaiting delivery I call David at 11:00 am and left a message

me- " david I just wanted to let you know I'm going to the gym but my wife will be here in a half hour in case you come then "

    David calls back-

    " Hey "

    " David? "

    " yes "

" How are you doing? "(here is where I messed up)

    pause)

    " not so good "

    " oh no what's wrong/ " (mock sincerity)

    " My truck Broke "

At this point I pretend his reception has cut out so I can regroup-

" Sorry David, you cut out would you repeat that? "

" My TRUCK IS BROKE "

" You're waiting for a jump?" (now I'm really playing with him)

" No it's more complicated it's a diesel and I've already loaded the whole truck. "

pause- " I might have to bring it in myself tomorrow. "

" Please David I need the desk my 1:00 tomorrow I have a PS ice cream party to attend "

" it's funny you are the only one of my customers who is so busy. everyone else just says ok...."

    pause

STERN VOICE " David tomorrow is my birthday I REALLY WANT THAT DESK HERE BY 1:00. "

    " Oh Happy birthday! "

    " David. "

    " I'll see you before 1:00 . " Click.

  7. Understanding how a pump works.

BioMed Reports says some BB stk that deals withe the elderly is about to announce a huge contract.

Gene Maracel now has a weird online presense he has always danced on the edge- he publishes the story flat out- big contract coming....

    (a) Biomedreports.com has put out a trading alert on ACAR. It said the company is close to a strategic partnership that could help drive its earnings. More than likely a major marketing partner. The company is also launching a major marketing initiative for is emergency service care center using its Pal unit to connect. It is the leading technological widget that is revolutinizing old age care.

    (b) INVESTOR’S ALERT: Watch ActiveCare
    By Gene Marcial
    June 9, 2010
There isn’t much information available yet about a little known company called ActiveCare (ACAR), which develops personal emergency response devices for senior citizens and the sick or disabled. Currently trading over the counter at just more than $1 a share, the company integrates global positioning system and cellular phone technologies to develop devices that active senior citizens can use to alert a monitoring center that they fallen or otherwise need immediate medical or physical assistance.
The big story here is the company is close to signing a major contract with an insurance company that should dramatically increase its top and bottom lines. Some investors believe the deal could add more than $1 a share to earnings over the next 12 to 18 months. The company has only 14 million fully diluted shares outstanding. The contract could be a big boon to ActiveCare. Stay tuned.

    >>>> You have to take these things is stride. That's a big promise from the boys. Unfortunately they are pushing another stock one I kind of like. I can't deny I made a killing once this year off the name so I'm afraid of pushing my luck. And indeed this name is coming through the same spin cycle--- Bio Med--- To Gene...
but this one has been upgraded by Goldman! Yup some cat in his basement named Goldman. That's like getting upgraded my Morgan Spurlock... or MS.

    REXAHN PHARMACEUTICALS, INC.
    (NYSE:AMEX -RNN)
Four Reasons Why Stock Should Move Higher
By Rob GoldmanIt has been exactly two months since our last Company Update (excludes a Research Alert in May) and we believe now is a good entry point to buy the stock and/or add to existing positions. Below we outline 4 reasons why we project that the stock could be markedly higher in the next 30 days.
Reason #1: News on June 18th
On Friday, June 18th, the FDA will vote on whether or not to approve the first “female Viagra pill.” The drug, known as Flibanserin, is made by German pharmaceutical giant Boehringer Ingelheim. The Company claims that the drug boosts women’s sexual desire. While an approval would likely be welcomed by men nationwide, it may also provide a “looking glass” into Rexahn’s Zoraxel and Serdaxin drugs.
Flibanserin’s mechanism of action is based upon the manipulation of neurotransmitters that play a key role in sexual activity. Zoraxel is also a Central Nervous System-based (CNS) treatment whose mechanism acts as a dual serotonin and dopamine enhancer in the brain. And although Serdaxin is designed as an anti-depressant, it utilizes the same basic mechanism.
The Bottom Line: An FDA approval for this Female Viagra Drug gives us insight into how safety and efficacy of a sexual dysfunction treatment that has a similar basic mechanism of action is viewed by the FDA. An approval would enhance RNN’s standing. Plus, it would give us more confidence regarding potential Zoraxel approval and marketing and development relationships.
    Reason #2: Fred Frank
Last week, Rexahn announced that it has hired Fred Frank, a noted investment banker with a long history and track record of mergers and acquisitions success. Investors did not correctly interpret the importance of this news, in our view.
The Bottom Line: Fred Frank is a wheeler-dealer extraordinaire. He is well-known on the Street for executing M&A. Interestingly, much of his work has been with companies much larger than RNN. The fact that he has taken on this assignment gives us great confidence that not only will RNN execute an investment/development/marketing deal with Big Pharma for Serdaxin or Zoraxel, but that it will be a favorable deal to the Company and shareholders. Finally, the timeline to execution may be sooner now as well.
    Reason # 3: Teva
Rexahn has an all-encompassing development and milestone payment deal for the pre-clinical cancer treatment RX-3117.
The Bottom Line: It is that time of year. We expect that the next milestone payment (we estimate $3-4M) will occur at the turn of the quarter. This would no doubt have a positive impact on the stock.
    Reason #4: The Share Price
The stock has drifted downward for several weeks on light volume, along with many other small biotechs. From the technical perspective, we think once it pushes through $1.20, it has little to no resistance until around $1.50.
The Bottom Line: The stock is basically at the same price as when we initiated coverage in February. Yet, Rexahn is in a much stronger position. The Company has announced favorable Phase IIa results for 2 drugs, announced Phase IIb launches, received patents for RX-3117, and raised funds through warrant conversion. The stock has been “basing” for some time and is a great at entry point at current levels, in our view.
Conclusion: The stock price and trading are incongruent with Rexahn’s current standing and prospects. New money is due soon from Teva, the Female Viagra trial may divert attention to Zoraxel, Serdaxin and Zoraxel trial sare due to start soon, and Phase IIa Archexin results will be upon us by year’s end. Plus, we believe that the Fred Frank signing practically ensures a Big Pharma deal in some form during 2H10.
We reiterate our Speculative Buy rating and $4.00 target, although we believe that positive news could take it over $2.00 in the near term.
We initiated coverage of RNN on February 16, 2010 at a price of $1.22.

TRADERS’ ALERT: REXAHN UPDATE (June 14, 2010)
    By Gene Marcial
There’s a new wrinkle at Rexahn Pharmaceuticals (RNN) that should be positive for the young biopharmaceutical company. On June 8, Rexahn announced the appointment of Frederick Frank, a veteran Wall Streeter and investment banker, as an independent consultant. Frank, vice chairman of investment firm Peter J. Solomon and known for his expertise in deal making, will advise Rexahn on a host of corporate matters, including mergers and acquisitions, to build up assets and enhance shareholder value.
Rexahn Chairman and CEO Chang Ahn says Frank’s expertise in healthcare and 50 years of investment banking focused on biotechnology will help the company in its quest for opportunities to expand and speed up the development of its various drugs in the pipeline. Rexahn focuses on developing therapies for cancer, central nervous system disorders, and sexual dysfunction
Currently, Rexahn has three products in phase 2 clinical trials: Archexin, Serdaxin, and Zoraxel. Rexahn plans to conduct a phase 2B clinical trial for Zoraxel in order to asses its efficacy in about 225 males, ranging in age from 18 to 65. The 12-week trials will start in the second half of 2010, and the results are expected by next year.
An earlier phase 2A clinical trials, completed in May 2009, demonstrated Zoraxel consistently outscored the International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF), and was found to be safe and well tolerated by the 39 patients in the clinical trials. The speculation is that Rexahn is in talks with one of the big pharmaceutical companies for a possible licensing of Zoraxel. Hence the hiring of Frank as a consultant.
A product being developed by Germany’s Boehringer Ingleheim designed to enhance the female libido recently completed a phase 3 clinical trial. It has shown good efficacy in the studies. According to a report in The New York Post on May 27, the company is expected to submit the product to the FDA for review on efficacy and safety. Some analysts say that the Boehringer drug will help boost the appeal of Rexahn’s Zoraxel as they both use Seratonin with different doses for different treatments. .
However, Zoraxel also increases the level of dopamine. And it can be given 30 minutes prior tocontemplating sexual activity. Thr Boehringer product, called Flibaserin,,has to be taken daily. In that sense, Zoraxel has an advantage in terms of timing. If approved, Flibaserin reportedly could be on the market by year end.
If in fact Boerhinger will on the market that soon, it may prompt the Big Pharma companies to look at Rexahn and its Zoraxel to they can participate in that robust market. That would make Frank’s job easier. .
Among analysts who are bullish onRexahn are Rob Goldman of Goldman Small Cap Research and Elemer Piros of Rodman & Renshaw. On Friday June 11, 2010, shares of Rexahn closed at $1.16 a share, down from its 52-week high of $3.68 on Apr. 12, 2010.
