Weinstein Trading and Fading

  1. Hello otcstockfund,

I use those to notate what setup I used to enter into the trade so I can go back and why I made the trade.

Otherwise they are of no use to anyone else.

I hope you have a good weekend !!

  2. Fleetwood Mac week ends -

Well I should be all happy and trying to decide if I am going to go or not. Unfortunately I am actually going to hold off.

I had to leave early on Friday and while I put in bids to cover two stocks they did not get hit.

What a strange day in that I made some really nice gains right from the open with RIMM and through the first hour of trading. then as the day progressed it appeared that I would not have any more trades as the market overall went south. Finally the market makes a big comeback to end near the HOD and carrying my shorts higher. All this done while I was not in the office.

While I dont account for gains/losses until the trades are closed out I did engage these trades during the last week and will account for them in my total. As such I will not consider the Fleetwood Mac challenge to be met .... not yet anyway.

I have both HP and GEOY short and the odds favor that they fall on Monday and with the recent screeming market pumping out such huge gains I think I may have the general market in my favor Monday as well.

    Wish me luck

  3. Hi Robert,

You may have addressed this earlier in the journal, but I was curious as to why you don't trade futures. Is that that with 100's of stocks, the opportunities will always be more abundant than with 10 or so futures charts?

  4. I am adding to my NTES short via more options.

    sold APL 30 calls @ 50 cents.

This is a swing trade for me.

  5. Hello El Caballo,

Actually I do trade futures once in a while. I most often trade the SPI Sydney and HSI Hong Kong.

I don't record the gains in this journal but I do trade the asian markets once in a while.

I also trade oil, and NQ once in a great while and even more rare the ES. I was close to putting an order in to short the ES when it was +6 points last night but I really don't like having trades on overnight as I tend to sleep like crap.

As it was I was short HP and GEOY over the weekend and I felt that was enough of a short bias so I let it go at that.

Compared to my trading in stocks I also think the commissions are very high for futures (with ECN rebates its about free for me to trade stocks)

    Best to you

  6. I remember liking the "Pristine" book although I know they get slammed all the time on ET. It's one of the few books that addresses mental aspects first and extensively b/f delving into T/A. I haven't read it in ages; loaned it to someone & they never returned it.

  7. Strange and frustrating start to the week today.

I get out of bed and check on the pre-market trading as I have trades in both HP and GEOY. I see that GEOY is trading lower and the SnP is way down as well as the Nas. I was happy to see this as both NPR said the world markets where higher especially Hong Kong and the SnP was up slightly when I went to bed last night.

I see that GEOY has an offer at 23.50 for 300 shares and I decide that I will lift it and see if there are any under the 300. So I click it for 400 shares and to my disgust I see that what should have been me lifting the offer I turn into the bid and watch at about 900 shares get lifted at the price I have my now high bid. Oh well, so I kiss my wife goodbye after talking to the computer screen and drive to the office. I get to the office and the mid point has moved up quite a bit from when I left home so I am that much less pleased with GEOY

I did close out of some GEOY during the open to lower my risk but then held off covering the rest in search of greater gains.

    GEOY + 657

HP was another source of frustration. I tried to put a limit order in on the NYSE opening only order and it was filled after the open. I don’t blame the NYSE as I almost never put those types of orders in and I could have made a mistake but I was killed by commissions and was tought once again why I use the ECNs. Had I put the order in on Island as I normally do my cost would have been about 1/2 the cost. During the first hour HP game me a nice exit and I took it.

    HP + 1445

WYNN started out very strong today. I started to scalp it and then it moved up enough to give a valid signal to short. I put a small size on it and it worked out well.

    WYNN H, DS, + 900

By the end of the GEOY trade (closed out after WYNN) the frustration was gone and the satisfaction of having a good opening was upon me. With less than two hours into the trading day it appears that I may be done for the day.

MYL looked like I could scalp it to make a few cents and build up my volume to get to the 300K shares discount rate.

    MYL DS, + 102

RIMM came up on the radar and started shorting it but took some off the table just better than BE as its a pretty big dog in terms of price so a lot of my buying power gets eaten up fast. for the rest of the shares I was a little bit aggressive in that I waited until I had a full gain based on the setup before covering. RIMM moved back up on me but I was able to move my average cost basis up with it and scalped it higher and higher and with minutes left in the day it broke down and I closed out.

    RIMM H, B6 +846

    I shorted more NTES APL 30 Calls @ .50 and .54 each.

LAMR started out with some potential but never went anywhere. Closed out within the last half hour of trading.

    LAMR H, + 38

    + 3990 Day / Week

    + 19617 Month

  8. Hello QQQBALL,

Yeah, the trading company seems to be a little bit slippery but maybe its better that what I perceive it to be.

I thought the book I read was well thought out and had some worthwhile information. I have read a lot of books and it seems to me that most are just the same old information.

    Best to you

  9. Well I was able to make my Fleetwood Mac challenge.

I closed out GEOY and HP from over the weekend yesterday and they both were profitable.

I started to look at flights and as usual I became upset that first class is SOOO much more than coach but yet its not that much better.

Why the airlines dont price out first class for about 50-100% increase instead of the 300%+ markup is beyond me. they could actually sell some of the seats instead of giving them all away to the elite travelers. (I just lost elite status at the end of march)

So I am now thinking about going
