It's ironic...I remember you loaded the boat with LVS for a long term hold, "back in the day". You added and added, then finally let it go right before it started going parabolic. Either that, or my memory fails me. LOL
Pretty good memory but not totally correct. I did not have huge size but I did sell puts that were exercised and I sold calls against the stock. They were called away and the trade worked out great. Yes had I held it would have been more profitable in this one trade but that was not the plan. The plan worked and so I am happy with the results.
Lots of trades today but at a slower pace than yesterday My carry overs from yesterday worked out well. CNC was my largest and that is one crazy stock. Price moves are very fast at times. I scaled out and even shorted a little before covering. + 135 LVS was a loser yesterday but gave some back today + 24 I also closed out the CAD option + 35 it bacame unruly to manage that many trades at once so I decided to leave the short of the T bonds in tact and end this one. CAD JUN .97 + 35 RCL stopped out RXII long but was stopped out + 10 TGI MW1 + 226 I put some size on this one and traded around the core. worked out great TIE intraday bar overbought + 35 shorted ALV for a hold over. Also offering more in afterhours. +469
My hold over from yesterdays closing short worked out well. I woke up and pulled up ALV and was able to get a nice gain from the drop and closed out in premarket trading. I didnât get the dead bottom for the day but came close enough. + 181 RDN was active today and I think I traded half the volume myself. Went back and forth with it many times and just could not grab a large move. I did short for a second time with about two hours to go but it was hitting new highs near the one hour mark and thats not a good time to be short so I walked away with a little. As it turns out it did fall some after closing out but I am writing this before the close so I donât know how much I left on the table. For a trade that didnât work out it was still not bad. + 104 TIE was an intraday overbought + 39 C continues to do well. ZB the jun 30y bond futs call option is doing very well. It is worth about half the premium I sold it for. Another day or two like today and I will probably cover and write another one so that I do not lose to much beta with the underlying. I will be actively watching it for an exit. + 326
I can't believe you made money on RDN! Just shows there are so many ways to skin a cat. We were approaching same stock from the same point of view and got opposite results. Great job, Bob!
Thanks and sorry it didn't work out for you. I took some heat though and traded a lot of size back and forth. I ended up + 116 when it was all done as I tried to short into the close and after hours but only was able to get 200 shares short. I then covered thinking that I didn't want to have it on my mind when I wake up for only 200 shares I think it was a good situation for me though. I like trading stocks back and forth getting 5-15 cents a wack over and over catching the ECN rebates. So like with RDN I was underwater but not stopped out yet and started to cover at a loss. I then short up moves and cover. If a stock will move back and forth enough times before moving up to my stop I get a "get out of jail free card" : o )
I closed out the ZB Jun call option. 30 yr Tres Bond Futs 119 call. Thanks to some European countries showing the way to the US in how to piss it all away the market started taking another look at the good old USA debt. +637 I will look to reshort it if it retraces + 975
I have to insert my opinion here because Bob and I have been discussing breakouts, and looking at RDN's charts I can't even figure out how anyone could make very much money shorting it because there were only a couple lower highs today and the pullbacks were shallower than heck. You had to be a counter-trend sniper to catch those pullbacks. Today it broke through 6-month resistance and yesterday's high. With a 20% short interest and having traded above $60 a share back when its loss per share was far worse than it is now, you're looking at a textbook trend-following breakout strategy. Either jump in long when your scanner alerts you to the breakout off the open, or set your buy stop a couple ticks above the high of the consolidation range. I saw RDN hitting the hi ticker shortly after the open and jotted it down on my notepad along with POZN in case I got bored at some point today and needed a good breakout play.
Nice one, Bob! A while back someone here discussed trading ZB with me. But right now I'm addicted to POT, which I've always said is a gateway trade. I'm starting to believe it because I've been hanging around the crack addicts at CL Redux and am getting an overwhelming urge to inhale.
Ahh, we have you slipping slowly to the dark side of futures. Next thing you know an es trade will slip in there, and then we have you. I used to trade the ZB most everyday. It was a great intraday trend contract. Hope the little one is doing great, as well as the rest of the family, and school too.
