Yes. So UTR ranks players regardless of gender. The top men in the world are around 16. The top women are around 13. To get into a D1 program you generally need to be at least a 12. The top college men will be between 14-15. I don't know basketball well, but from people who do know it, they tell me that the gap is even wider. In basketball a WNBA All Star team would be demolished by D3 teams and good high school teams.
This weird guy should be ashamed of himself. He knows he is not a woman and is only competing as a woman so he can win a medal.
As a trans advocate, i take the same position (no pun intended) as Caitlin Jenner, for the same reasons steroids are not allowed in men's sports. If you've been taking male levels of testosterone since birth, then by the time one is old enough to compete physically, you have an unfair advantage over people who have only been born with estrogen propensity. A brief time of chemical suppression/alteration might not, probably will not compensate fairly. So one way to resolve this would be for physical competitors to first compete in a beauty contest up against bio-women, and "pass" at average or above. The beauty contests would need to be under the Trump brand to be official. There would be two kinds of passes: one where the trans is an actual "surprise", where nobody knew. The other would be where everybody knows the contestant is trans. One, or even both "official" passes could then be used to compete with bio-women in any sport. It would be great PR for Trump to host the "beauty" contests to provide athletic opportunities to trans. I think Sen. Ted Cruz would agree, who himself competed in basketball with Jamie Kimmel.
Sorry but Osaka could beat a D1 male player....elite tennis players dont go to college to play D1, they go pro at 14-16 or try to. D1 college players are not even close to the same level as pro men players on the tour.... which is why most are still in college playing..
A political party that claims to worship at the alter of science and then denies junior high biology can be expected to be taken about as seriously as the religion of peace that beheads anyone who disagrees. The damage here is minor as both political movements and religious zealots don't burden themselves with addressing the shear lunacy of their actions. The real damage comes to women's sports in what will become an evermore uneven field which will end up hurting more athletes than it helps. While slightly more damaging than politics this too pales in comparison to the real damage being done as this "transition" is introduced to younger and younger kids. We will see more lives destroyed by this as time goes on. Political wokeness will find some new lunacy to latch onto and these kids will have a lifetime of untreated mental illness ahead of them.
They aren't great men's players compared to those on the ATP Tour. If they played on the women's tour they would be the top players. You're greatly underestimating the athletic gap between men and women. Men are simply faster and stronger. The top female athletes might be more athletic than 95-99% of the men out there. However, we are talking about the top 1% of men. That's who plays D1 tennis. Take less than 1% of that number and that's who plays on the ATP.
Even men's sports is divided up into weight classes, anywhere that matters, which is a lot of places in sports. In boxing we have feather-weight, heavy-weight, and everything in between, all based on chemicals and genetics. Its bigoted to start disregarding such classes to appease bigoted politicos (low info voters), potentially harming the heretofore good reputation of actual trans people.
