Weight gain thru training

  1. How did you find my pic on the internet.....:)

    I wish.... he reminds me of Frank Zane, my favorite bodybuilder.

    This guy and Frank Zane, looked like well developed bodybuilders, before they indulged in steroids and started working out to excess.

    Is this Mike Mentzer?

    What's the best book to read, to learn about Mentzers' principles?

  5. I found a DEXA scan at a medical office that provides wellness services, such as services for hair loss, weight loss, botox etc.

    The DEXA scan is $150 and another service that I will ask about is called FIT 3D.

    I will call tomorrow to ask about them, and make an appointment.

  6. I've heard about people who struggle to gain weight and, to be honest, I feel a little jealous. It seems like every apple I eat goes straight to my belly as fat. Lately, I've been looking into how to buy wegovy online and I'm considering taking that step. Weight management can feel like an uphill battle, especially when it seems like your body is resistant to losing weight. Wegovy could potentially help manage my appetite and support weight loss efforts, but I understand the importance of using it under medical supervision.

  7. I think a lot has to do with genetics. It's interesting that if you see an overweight child, they often have overweight siblings and parents. A lot has to do with their environment, and the influence of their parents. After all, kids won't get fat eating cheesy puffs and ice cream if their parents don't buy it. Parents have to set a positive example for healthy living.

    But, I was one of those people that ate and ate, and never gained weight. I was in the Army in my twenties and it's hard to gain weight if you run 2-3 miles a day, 5 days a week. I was 35+
    before I tipped the scales at 150. I stayed at 145-148 for yearssssss.

    I was physically fit and had very little body fat, but nothing I did to gain weight worked out for me.

    Now, I weigh 183, and I am trying to get down to 165.....lol.

    I never watched nor counted calories, and my weight stayed pretty steady for most of my life ─ which I maintained by regular exercise and not going overboard on the sweet treats. Just over a year ago I started a meat-based diet (ketovore), strictly for general health, where I severely limit carbohydrate intake along with an increase in fat (!) which includes butter, bacon, eggs, and fatty red meats.

    Without trying to lose an ounce ─ as I was content with my weight ─ I dropped just over 20 lbs in a couple months and have maintained that level this past year. I eat as much as I want, whenever I feel hungry, and balance it off with intermittent fasting (ie, all of my eating is limited to an 8-hr time period each day from about 10a-6p, with no eating over the remaining 16 hrs).

    For me I find weight is directly controlled by carbs, and they were tough to give up as they are in some of the tastiest items of my old diet ─ pizza, cakes, pies, breads, pastries, donuts, pasta, cereal, potato chips, candy, etc. But for health reasons I also cut way back on sugars, so there's a lot of overlap there. Right now I'm at the trimmest weight I've been in decades, blood test results are excellent, and I feel the healthiest of my life.

    Can't say I don't miss those delicious carbs...
