could this be the sign that the bull is finally out of steam? is it just some weird end-of-year effect?

Shortie, we're going higher! Take my hand and we'll buy some new highs in 2011!

  5. Bullish. Dollar's been on a consistent downtrend, gold's been marching higher, but stocks have been stuck in a range. I'll be very surprised if we don't explode higher the first two trading days, and that should be enough to make the entire week a plus one.
The downer I've been anticipating will have to wait another week, at least.

  6. I have no clue. I guess I'll just have to stick to my "I have not clue about market direction" trading strategy.

  7. street.com poll is bullish. it has been bullish for several weeks now, even extremely bullish i would say. but this market does not pay out to contrarians. if we do jump up in the first few days that could be the last shorts finally capitulating marking an important top.

in Jan 2010 the market was rallying right until the beginning of the earning season before taking a dive.

    Bullish 64.28% 153 votes
    Bearish 24.36% 58 votes
    Neutral 11.34% 27 votes

I'll tell you about Monday. There's over a 90% chance that we will rally. Over the last 20 years, every monday that is also the first trading day of a month has rallied, over 90% of the time.
