I closed RIMM 16/18 call spread, as there was no point to keep it. Total loss for the trade is about -370. I opened another:
    Buy 7 RIMM Feb-1-13 15/16.5 Call Vertical

  4. Were you able to backtest this? What do the results show?

Yes and no, that's the problem. Direction is decided upon range of trend following systems and this is backtested. When it comes to options, I plug in current numbers (volatility, days to expiration, distance to strike) to my model and look what would have happened if I bought only such options/spreads. Only if equity in last 10 years is good enough, I make a trade.
So it's not a system that I backtested, but it is fully systematic and I look at historical equity before I make a trade.
As the title says, it's an 'experiment'. I have to check this live (I mean including comm and bid/ask spread - the account I use is paper trade) before going real money. It may not work, I might not know what the hell I'm doing, but at least I'll learn a lot.

I had to close RIMM spread again, at this prices my model showed no profitability. I opened a new one:
    Buy 6 RIMM Feb-1-13 14/15.5 Call Vertical

Another bad day. Wow, nice beginning. Good thing is, that trading options I've lost only -0.32% today, despite trading with about 4:1 lev. On average markets moved -0.73% against me. I wonder what will happen if and when market move my way.

I closed RIMM again with a small loss ( ~ $100). I will not open any new positions on this until Friday. SLV is going fine, finally I might make some virtual money.

Finally a profitable day. Profit on a account today +1.20%. Funny thing is, markets moved -0.68% against me on average. With futures this would be -2.38% loss on a account.
