The S&P covers many sectors and each really has its own P/E. Lumping all of them together is far from ideal.

    OK\
DIA has closed above 200dma since OCT+ still is.
Did you read that WSJ SATurday article with Fed VP Alan Blinder's 'last sentence ''Happy New Year''
NQ\QQQ leaders=still making 52 week new lows as of FRI close.
IBD never put PE as a priority; admittedly WSJ promotes PE+ DOW a lot.
Amazing number of markets + nations up as of FRI close. SPY benchmark= still in bear below 200dma
Bear of 2000-01-2002 made several month highs + resumed down bear trend.

Eggs are 4or $5 plus tax,@ dozen mid south USa. I did see one farm girl ad = eggs $8 per dozen , sold by appointment the ad noted.
But hens lay less eggs in winter also; even though some commercials use more light bulbs to goose production a bit:D:D

Calling the "market" expensive is far from ideal. The permabears on here don't even bother to define how they value markets or stocks it's just an emotional feeling to most of them.

Include permabulls in that and I agree. Funny permabulls and permabears only think that about the other. Just like D's and R's lol.

Are you seeing all those inflation rates tumbling to the bottom as you predicted? I don't.

OK+ sounds like you know Wally W better than me.
Ad price on eggs is $3 for dozen\ but that is from a mid-south store that grows thier own[believe it or not brown ,green + white eggs LOL] MAR 10/2023.
Transitory price. But that farm store doesn't have to charge tax, about 8%
But springtime is volume time for hen eggs; always has been.
RoseAcre Farms ,good hi volume dealer\ dont know the wholesale price; but they're selling where i shop@$2.25+ $2.50/doz + tax. Strangely 60 eggs cost more per dozen.
Jeremy Siegal forcast 10-15% for equity market 2023 year[Wisdom Tree website note]
Possible short on FRI, but now SPY is going up; see where it closes FRI??

The price of eggs has come back down,I bought an 18-pak last night for about $4 but the price of other things in the store is still waaaay up. They said the shortage and price hike in eggs was caused by an outbreak of avian flu. If you buy that I got some ocean front property in Kansas I wanna talk to you about.

WMT had a sign up for many months ''sorry for the hi price of eggs, we are doing the best we can'' I also remember 2022, WMT had 2 sections of eggs; priced @$3.00+ $4.50per dozen.[edit = same package, both prices, same expiry date]
WHEN i got to the cash register i told the cashier i got the $3.00 eggs, not $4.50.+ she adjusted the price to $3.00. Nothing like a helpful capitalist/LOL:D:D
[I remember my mom loved the brown eggs, even more so if they were ''cage free'']
To anyone that ever raised hens, ''cage free ''= CA pretend marketing.
Without a cage\ a hen = like a dead duck, most any kind of predator loves to eat hens:caution::caution:
Not sure if it was the bird flu, grain prices, labor, energy prices, transportation, supply + demand or all of the above.
    I do know a lot of hens are real sensitive to predators, light, sunlight drafts, bird flu;
only the spring season tends to be hi volume season for hen eggs.
