Here is a reference list. Please add to it if I have missed anything.

    -- Stock specific --

    (1) Short in the money calls and get assigned.

Note to Chris Cox: Will you legislate for a mandatory buy to cover if call writers are assigned?

    (2) Short calls

    (3) Long puts

    (4) Single stock futures

    * have huge spreads
    * cannot be traded outside of regular hours
    * only exist for some larger cap companies

    -- Not stock specific --

    (5) Sell index futures

    (6) Long inverse ETFs

    (7) Work for CNBC as a cheerleader for the stockmarket.

    thanks for the reminder Cutten.

I was thinking the same thing about 6 hours ago regarding how to short RBS if the UK won't allow shorting.

However it looks like I won't be able to short RBS on the NYSE for much longer.

  8. Short index futures at 60/40 tax treatment. CME will rally on this insane development. Or simply sell call/buy put/same strike.

    LOL! So true!

  10. Why continue to trade stocks? Plenty of markets to trade that you can go long and short in.

    Equities are finished. Period.

First they went to penny spreads. To help the investor,

    now no short selling.

Options on Equities had a nickle spread, now penny if needed.

Where is the edge to trading? No shorts? Rescue and Fed Control. Industry Accounts cooking the books for Public Co's, Public Co's lying about debt on the books, blowing out, nothing is transparent for the Investor.

So, lets go back to Spreads in fractions, lets bring in short selling and lets trade a "FREE MARKET". Oh, wait, that wont due.
