If you look at net-net energy efficiency, unless electricity is produced by renewable or nuclear, EV spits out more CO2. In California, with electricity costs ~$0.16-0.20 per kwh, hybrid is cheaper to run than charging up your EV.

That's surprising considering that California gas taxes are among the highest in the country if not the highest.
