Watching the CNN Ferguson coverage is painful

The bozo keeps referring to 'under-funded' inner city schools. Actually those schools oftentimes get a lot more $$$ per student than a middle class suburban school. Why? because students test scores are so low that a ton of extra resources are brought in ... paid tutors, resource teachers focusing on specific areas, extra mental health counselors, a 2nd school psychologist, and so on. Again, I speak from experience where Mr. Know It All throws out uninformed drivel.

Funding for the 'poor' schools is plentiful. These kids are given every opportunity to achieve and/or excel. It's a CHOICE one makes. Sadly, the schools can't be there 24/7 ... many of the kids go back home to shitty environments.

Example: I had one girl who was a straight A student. She wanted to go to a "good" school for middle school years. Her elementary school was having an open house where middle schools came and explained what they offered. Her Mom refused to let her stay for this event. So the Principal intervened and drove the girl home after the event. I later took her to 3 or 4 other middle schools to see them firsthand ... a highly thought of math & science charter school, a school for gifted and talented and a brand new science middle school. Mom wouldn't take her so I did. Some events were in the early evening ... and when I drove her home and opened the door to her duplex it reeked of alcohol and smoke. Lots of adults crowded on couches having a good time.Is that any kind of environment for a kid to study and live? That's not an isolated case. I could go through many similar examples. Point I'm making is their home life sucks big time .. due to lazy parents in many cases.

Getting past Doh's ignorance will be a real hurdle for those who want to research this subject, but the results will be informative.

    To start with:

The only one who chooses to remain ignorant on this forum - on a broad range of issues - is you. That's why you're at odds with pretty much everyone here on a daily/hourly basis. Your pompous, ego driven commentary where you place yourself at everyone's intellectual superior (despite vast evidence to the contrary - again, on a variety of subjects) is what has earned you asshat of the year status in your brief, one month back in this forum. I'll use a favorite line from "convexx" - you should go choke yourself and save everyone here the annoyance. Do it while listening to Judy Garland to make the time pass easier for you.

The two charts you have put up to "show DHOHHI's ignorance" hasn't done anything to refute his real-world teaching experience in working inner cities - at all. You put up a chart showing state wide report cards and chance for success ratings for all states. What does this have to do with funding to inner city schools, or the suggested factor of student/parent cause of dropout and poor performance?

  7. Yes, it's about education, or lack of it. Job opportunities as well. Now tell me how the following is going to help solve those problems.
President Barack Obama's attention to the illegal immigration crisis, which could lead him to issue executive orders soon to delay deportations and grant work permits to as many as 6 million migrants, has soured many of his core voters: African-Americans.

Illegal immigration has exacerbated the problem for blacks. Thank a leftist and your black president for that.

DB has, and continues to offer no factual data relative to blacks underachieving in the classroom. He refuses to acknowledge that FACT that 3/4 of black kids have no father in the home. Contrast that with whites or even Hispanics, who have a much stronger family unit than blacks. All he does is whine they are not given equal opportunity. He false states they go to underfunded schools. The factual data is out there that they receive lots of additional resources as any school superintendent wants to have the highest test scores/graduation rates as they can achieve as their jobs are on the line too. Further, pressure is there to get the underperforming schools to advance. We have the NAACP out marching at times saying the blacks get a lesser education. Their leader is ignorant, and is actually much like DB, in that she dances around facts. The school I'm at was trashed last summer but some students who moved on to middle school. Three computers trashed, 2 smartboards, paint all over desks, walls, cabinets overturned. The found the culprits .. 2 black girls. I helped clean the place up with another parent for 3 days. Was there any restitution on the part of the families of those 2 kids? NOPE. Just another example of kids who have no respect for property. Kids with no adult supervision. Kids who will fail in life. I could go on and on ... but it's not worth debating an idiot who has NO EXPERIENCE dealing with these kids and their families.

His charts were laughable .... especially the latter. Chance for success in 2014? Gee, let's put up a chance for success of NFL players in 2014? Or NBA rookies this coming year. It has no correlation with what is in fact the reality of high poverty schools. The stupid charts do NOT break out schools by city, by middle class versus poor, or any other breakout. It's a damn statewide chart color coded. It shows nothing on funding. He constantly seems desperate to reply to every post within minutes of said posts appearing that prove him to be wrong time and time again.

I'll be happy to provide further information to anyone who's genuinely interested, which of course doesn't include anyone who's going on about how it's all the parents' fault and doesn't want anything different to intrude.

Otherwise, I have a house to remodel.
