It would be more weird if every other president before him didn’t exercise the same free reign to just drop bombs.
But it’s a total about face by Trumpy. Very disappointing.

I recall the markets barely reacting when Trump did this a year ago. This time it feels it will be different since we weren't alone in the military action. Big futures spike down tomorrow night through the morning?

One of the saddest lessons of history is this: If we’ve been bamboozled long enough, we tend to reject any evidence of the bamboozle. We’re no longer interested in finding out the truth. The bamboozle has captured us. It’s simply too painful to acknowledge, even to ourselves, that we’ve been taken. Once you give a charlatan power over you, you almost never get it back. - Carl Sagan

My thoughts on this is that either you take full measures or don't do anything at all. Either you go in and invade with a coalition of allies complete with ground forces and take out the regime (similar to Iraq) or don't perform any type of military action. Launching a minor missile strike is an absurd half measure that will accomplish little.

Of course, similar to Iraq, Syria would have the same sectional/fractional post-invasion issues if you go in and take out the government. Take a good look at Iraq before you do this and determine if you really want to repeat it again. This is coupled with the reality of possible direct conflict with Russians and Iranians stationed in Syria when invading.

  6. Nothing but posturing, giving the appearance of doing something while accomplishing nothing. It's what our government does best.

Not unless Russia chimes in about something. Or an errant Syrian SAM landed in Israel. Other than that, its ancient history already... business as usual.
Back to the golf course for Trump. Keep him there so we can get the VIX down.

  8. Trump pats self on back for ‘Mission Accomplished!’ attack on Syria

President Donald Trump declared “mission accomplished” in Syria on Saturday morning, following a late night missile strike on three locations near Damascus.

“A perfectly executed strike last night,” Trump bragged.

“Thank you to France and the United Kingdom for their wisdom and the power of their fine Military,” the commander-in-chief continued. “Could not have had a better result.”

    “Mission Accomplished!” he concluded.

Now you are back on the Constitution again. Last time I checked you sold the Constitution out for big government, nanny state, protectionist, populism.
