Not just diabetics now. They do this for MRSA, and if the drug you use now does not work, push your doctor about this therapy, and phage therapy. That is what buylow/sellhigh is telling you...push your doctor.
Wow, man. You are getting good care, and Vncomycin is the antibiotic of choice for MRSA. However, please ask your physicians if an overlay of Zyvox and Cubicin can be utilized now, or separately, in case the Vancomycin doesn't knock out the MRSA. Drink a ton of water man (I know they have you on an IV drip), but still.

I'm gonna try to get some sleep, in the morning I have a bone marrow biospy and I'm not sure how long it will take me to recover from it. In this particular case I have strep and MRSA both, both of which can case flesh eating disease, but I did not in fact have necrotizing fasciitis. This summer, in June, I did and was in the hospital from June 22nd until August 14th. Strangly I was actually more ill from this on Friday night then I was from the flesh eating strep, but I caught that fairly early..with in a couple of hours. In this particular case the doctors here say that the doctors in Ames let me go without the area ever healing up entirely, that I have basically had some level of infection going since June that never went away, and over the last few days it exploded on me. I sore when I woke up on Weds and so I called my doctor. She said she was too busy to see me, but given my history she called in an antibiotic and told me to come in to see her Friday. Thursday it was getting very sore, and by 6pm Thursday I was very sick and so I called to have my dad bring me to ER. He brought me to the hospital in Nevada, knowing they would go ahead and bring me to Des Moines, but that it would actually be faster to just go ahead and go to Neveda then have them bring me to Des Moines then it would be for us to go to Des Moines and wait in the waiting room for six hours. Anyway, he brought me and they started to treat me and I started to crash very badly. I had a heart attack and was flown from Neveda to Des Moines Mercy Hospital. They did the surgery on me at around 1am Thursday night/Friday morning. I've been very anemic, have had blood transfussions each day I have been here. They are going to do a bone marrow biopsy this week (I'm trying to find a place to hide, but my room is very small unfortunatly) and some other tests for infectious disease to try to find out why this will not go away. Obviously having had cancer probably makes my immune system weaker then that of the average person, but they don't think it explains all of the probelms I have had. I'm almost starting to wish I was an IV drug user, because at least in that case we would know why I keep getting the damn thing and would have something to tell me to stop doing, but alas nothing can be simple. A bunch of people have called and talked to me and it's been great. It's kinda boring up here (but don't call after 9pm, coz im a bum ) It's been great to see how many people do have genuine concern and empathy for my situation. So thank you all again. you don't know me, i don't know you, but i wish you well. my advice from being an advocate for my very sick sister is that YOU need to be proactive in your care- everything from asking questions about different drugs, to, if needbe, moving to another hospital which has more expertise with a situation such as yours. doctors/hospitals are not one to admit that something is a bit out of their league- even when it is. just remember, it's your life and your future at stake. don't worry about pissing people off if there is reason to question your treatment. doctors aren't created equal any more than traders. you're obviously a smart guy and i'm not exactly breaking news with this post. just wanted to share my opinions based upon watching doctors who were in over their heads stumble along for 10 years until my sister finally got to a specialist who correctly diagnosed her (unfortunately too late to undo the damage that the disease has inflicted on her). if it were me, i'd be making sure i've got the "A" team working on me... good luck.
