  1. Who would invest in a company that focuses on jobs ahead of profits?

    ---------------

Better send Obama an e mail. Company cut jobs, stock rally.

  2. I was a horrible stockbroker, but one day I received a box of sales material from Calvert Socially Conscious Mutual funds and I just printed up a bunch of random lables and sent them out.

People started coming out of the woodwork. People who had never invested in stocks wanted to buy. Back then it was mainly tobbaco they were against, but also pollution.

The load was 4%, so it kept me going another month.

To say that long term investors will buy no matter how much the CEO is paid or how many jobs are exported may not necessarily always be true in the future.

(That's stockbroker talk, you see, almost everything will not necessarily be the same in the future.)

  6. Who would invest in a company that focuses on jobs ahead of profits? No one. That was my point that you missed. We're starting to suffer the consequences of that conundrum. This system is NOT sustainable over the long run. It will collapse on itself. It doesn't focus on the greater good. When everyone's happy, there's a greater chance you'll be happy. When everyone's miserable, unfortunately there's a good chance you'll experience the same fate. Treat everyone how you would like to be treated and it will be paid forward. Unfortunately focusing on shareholder profits will never solve the country's structural problems. Compromise will. When you trade do you focus on your PnL as your basis for the trade? I sure as hell hope not. Call me a socialist or whatever but the last thing I want are my neighbors and friends to be jobless and unhappy.

  7. i used to respect buffet before, but not lately.

the guy is full of shit. he knows that rich people right now are the most hated group in America, so he's doing everything he can PR-wise to distance himself from them. so he spews this shit about how rich people should pay more. if you actually believe he's being sincere, i've got some beachfront property in nebraska to sell you cheap.

it's disengenuous to complain that one doesn't pay enough taxes but at the same time DO EVERYTHING YOU CAN TO NOT PAY. what a hypocrit!!!!

  8. The man made the single largest donation in history...ever. For the Buffet haters out there try and wrap that around your brain for a minute before reverting back to your warped views of the world.
