Very true. There's little doubt why he's a perpetual cheerleader of stimulus/bailout programs that bail out his positions. And like some high-profile gov't officials, his firms' tax practices are questionable, too. From what I've read, his dad was more of a libertarian type, but ol' Warren sure ain't.

  2. I always doubted that Warren Buffett couldn't have made that fortune without doing Insider Trading.

If our government understood and used capital a little more like Warren we'd ALL be better off. They'd do good to listen to him.

  4. i may be skeptical..

but what charity work is buffet doing NOW or what buffet ever done any charity work or charity donation. Buffet is a benefactor of the US economy he owes his wealth the United States growth and free market capitalism....i don't see why people would see him as some super duper investor..he never invested in microsoft or any great investments...his berskshire is just an hedge fund doing derivatives etc..selling insurance.

as for berkshire,,his private companies in his bershire shares are pathetic no growth stocks and puny dividends..as an individual investor no point in owning stocks that don't appreciate meaning no growth and no dividend. his fund now is same as a pension fund. or bond fund that he can't liquidate immediately without crashing the market. he have to hold on to his positions forever in this market like ten years....

and his investment theorems aren't nothing new like graham or common sense investing. it too him a while to realize stocks are not stocks but just shares of 'companies'. many people trade and invest in stocks like it's some kind of commodity.

he keeps saying he;ll donate all his wealth to charity when he is dead.

and who is that facebook saying that too.

it's called charity tax shelter..duh!!! and it's looks very stupid..

  5. Buffett has allotted himself a 100k salary as ceo of berkshire, and lives very meagerly. if you're insinuating that he is exploiting power for financial gain, i think you're wrong- the guy isn't greedy at all

  6. GS subpoena this morning.

As I outlined above, Buffett was obviously in possession of material, non-public information when he made his GS investment during the financial crisis.

Buffett was in the discussions with the President, and Treasury officials, concerning the TARP bailout of financial institutions.

GS, specifically, would go on to receive over half a trillion dollars in loans from taxpayers.

What kind of conflict you expect there? It's not Buffet going to government asking something, the opposite is true - gov. guys coming to hime seeking his advise. And yes, he does believe in US and keeps a lot of long positions. So, any advise to improve an economy you can consider as conflict of interests?? Come on.. Besides of that, I don't think at this point he's interesting in any way to earn more money for himself. As an old joke goes, in his position he should be interesting more how to spend money rather then to earn it :) .

Buffet is a big promoter of high speed rail. This is a rail system that will never make a dime yet in the end will rebuild 1000's of miles of track. Track that will benefit anyone who own commerical railroads.
It is federal money that is being used to rebuild rails, money that the rail corporations won't have to spend. More corporate welfare
