  3. It happened to me twice on a older Dell laptop. Both times I think it was related to the power/not shutting down correctly. On my 2 PC towers I've never had any problesms. Also on my new laptop I've never had any problems.

  5. Interesting. We run Mozilla and newer Firfox versions all on Linux. We have never yet had an issue with losing the users bookmarks. The platform on Linux is in our experience extremely stable and very secure.

  6. Just in case anyone is helped by this... tonight, I was browsing as usual when Firefox suddenly became unable to navigate to any pages (www.xxx not found). I closed the browser and checked my 'net connection - up and running. I went to relaunch the browser and...the launch I got was as if I had just installed Firefox! Normally my Firefox is configured to open several tabs upon launch - none were there. It opened to the Firefox home page. I tried to relaunch a few times, with no luck. I then thought of my bookmarks. All of them were gone. I had backed up them up with the extension I mentioned on page 1 of this thread.

The backup seemed to work because I found them in an html file. This was a relief, to say the least.

Before I started trying to import them, I tried once more to relaunch Firefox and... voila!! The browser launched as it is supposed to, with all my tabs and bookmarks intact.

    Kind of strange.

  7. Lost all my bookmarks today!

Always thought Mozilla and Firefox were POS, can't see all the hype about it, really

POS pos, pos, doesn't even come with plugins. Firefox saves everything you write in boxes and forms by default !

IE remains the best browser, despite the so called security vulnerabilities exploited by Mozilla backers and other Mr sOFTIE HATERS

If anyone knows how to recover the bookmarks let me know, it's no big deal I use IE for business , Mozilla SH*T for browsing but still would like my bookmarks back !

  8. Wow, tell us how you really feel. IMO, Firefox is 1000X better than IE. Never had one problem in almost three years. Maybe you guys should quit surfing porn sites.

  9. I'm not sure if this will help, but have you tried using the Search function to locate all files on your computer using the word Bookmarks? If you find multiple files, try using the Import function in Firefox to import the largest Bookmarks file, this will contain the most bookmarks, and hopefully will contain your latest set of bookmarks.

    Thanks wareco!

Worked like a charm. I lost all of mine about 2 weeks ago. Thought I was screwed.

About 7 files came up and somewhere in the middle, all of my old faves came up.

    Thanks again.
