1. you know owning cars encourages car theft so maybe we need to ban automobiles :-/

2. Glues, solvents, gold spray paint & paint thinners are also commonly abused by druggies. However, there are two major differences here:

1) Huffing these substances actually causes brain damage, mental retardation, and occasionally death. Ask any doctor- huffing these poisons is far worse than a weed, opium- or even a coke habit.

2) These substances are perfectly legal, and are commonly abused by dumb kids who are unable to score 'real' street drugs.
Talk about the hit to your pocketbook, Mav.

Besides, what about the $50/billion per year of YOUR tax money wasted on catching & incarcerating drug dealers & users? How about all the man hours of law enforcement personel wasted on the 'war on drugs', when they should be dealing with theives, murderers, rapists & pedophiles?

Come on now, you are really grasping at straws. I would love to see the actual numbers on this. That is the percentage of young people that actually sniff glue or paint thinners. I mean we must be talking about .0001% of the population.

And if you want to keep coming up with stuff that can kill you, just take mix aspirin with alcohol in large quantities. I guess we should outlaw aspirin too huh?

As far as the govn't spending 50 billion a year. Look, if the gov't wasn't fighting the war on drugs, it would waste that 50 billion somewhere else where its not needed. The argument you are making is against government waste, not necessarily money spent on drug wars. You don't need to tell me how much money we are wasting in this country. But it would be wasted regardless so it's a moot point.

4. It's not clear that addiction would spread, but that is not a strong enough reason to deny access.

Personally, I have fended off many crazed chainsaw seeking home invaders.

That's what you get for living in a socialist country. It goes with the territory, stop complaining.

Can you believe they execute people in Russia on the spot for coming up a dollar short in taxes. True.

The point is that NONE of these intoxicating substances should be prohibited at all.

The issue is far worse than just wasting money...it's wasting money on anti-freedom oppression. This is not the vision America's founding fathers had for our country. Do you not understand the implications of the Lincoln quote in my signature?

The bottom line here is freedom. I favor it, and you do not.
