  2. Even 100% return a year is nothing.
Anything 100% or less is not that exciting (I wouldn't MIND that kind of return, it's just not that crazy).

I have a trader friend who will sometimes hit 100% in a DAY (of course, we're talking high risk, small funds).

I've seen him turn 6k into 12k. Overall he started with 4.5k and turned it into 35k'ish.

Yesterday he took 4-5k and made another 4-5k on the eur/jpy in one move.

    Damn ballsy, but good.

  3. I guarantee he will blow out in less than 6 months trading "All In" like that.

  4. $CostAverageMAN,

I was wondering what your thoughts are on the fertilizer stocks, specifically POT. It is rather remarkable how far it has fallen. Time to get in or wait for the 30's or 20's. I can't even believe I've written those numbers for a stock that was 180 plus just a couple of months ago.

    Regards,

    John

How is your return this year?

  6. Short Treasuries/ Long Commodities

So I was early, but when you don't have many ideas and you have a lot of capital to average in with being wrong for a week or two is a good thing to build a nice position with a comfortable average price....Yes I am long quite a few stocks as normal, but why they are up today I couldn't even begin to tell you why....as for commodities and treasuries...That just makes sense to me at these levels...

MCD--nice pick...Like I always say slow and steady wins the race....

Net for the 2008 was 58.31% for the year....Quite respectable for the level of capital that was on the sidelines throughout the year.....Quite a few home run type swings this year....Off the top of my head
    1. Yen trades
    2. Early 2008 long energy
    3. Mid 2008 sold all energy/fert/ag/miners
    4. Flight to treasuries
    5. Bank and Airline day/swing trades (DAL, MS, GS, JPM, SNV, WB, AMR, ALK, UAUA, CAL)

    $5X,XXX,XXX.XX If anyone was wondering...

    Happy New Year

  7. Had to come back and point this one out again....IMHO Best call the journal has seen since the energy dump in June/July...

    11-20-08 11:48 AM

It's been a while since my last post and I came back to say dump your ultra short positions...IMHO....

If you are hedging with these positions at this level take your gains.....I did...

The discounts got wiped out today and the best I can tell they have reached premiums of upward of 5% at different levels in todays trading......I personally feel we are reaching a level that we can bounce from again and I am happy to let these go at these levels.....SKF and SRS north of $250 are a sell.....closed EEV, TWM, EFU, SDS.....I actually went long UYG at 4.06.....Currently 18% Long, 2% short (DXD was left open), 10% gold, 65% cash, 5% UUP......

Some of the longs that I held through OCT. are hurting, but I added about 8% to the long side yesterday into the close and feel pretty good about it

I just hope I may of saved one person some $$$$ on this post.....What an almost perfect call.....10:45 on the 21st would of been perfect...
